Moving Day

...in to the cupboards!!!

I had a SUPER productive day yesterday.

Now we wait for the appliances.

And yes... that color is not builder's beige. It's PINK!

I  will be painting again...in the winter.

Today's project....

And the antique buffet with the rounded glass in the corner?

That's a sneak peak for Colleen. I will get a better picture when it's clean in here!!

It's going to be an 'Enough Already' day!

The Peony Queen

Of Torquay, Saskatchewan....that is!!

Mrs. Jeanne Wanner

Mrs. Jeanne Marie Wanner

86 years young....

retired school teacher....

smart as the day is long....

memory like NO other......

MASTER gardener beyond!!

My kids worked for Jeanne for years.

Jeremy and Justin planted and worked the yard and Chantel would clean for her.

Chantel just commented the other day how the smell of Fantastic signifies 'clean' to her from her years at Jeanne's.

During our peony tour on Saturday, she pointed out which plants Jeremy had planted and which Justin had.

This is where Justin got his love for gardening.

She said Justin was the first kid she had ever hired who knew the difference between a blade of grass and a day lily!!

Jeanne prides herself on her amazing peonies.

She had over sixty varieties and knows them by name like her own children.

It was an amazing garden tour!

On the home front, I finished baling yesterday just before the crazy storm!!

We got a start in the installation of the cupboards on Sunday.

Now the serious stuff begins....

But first it's tea with the quilting girls today!!
(not at my house thank goodness)

Spinning my Wheels....Literally

It's renos in the morning and haying into the night!!

Haying has begun.

I should finish cutting today and then start baling.

That is..... when I am not stuck.

I am proud to say I made it out of that mud hole... barely.

We are two weeks ahead of schedule as the alfalfa weevil is eating the hay as fast as it can grow so it is now or never.

That is not bits of hay... that is the little bug doing all the damage!!

Times a couple thousand!!

Talk about camouflage in the hay.

On the kitchen front...The taping was complete yesterday.

A coat of primer last night and another of paint this morning!!

And as an added bonus to the mix....

 The cupboards have arrived!!

This wrapped package is like a butterfly at cocoon stage.

It's going to be quite the transformation.

Better get to it!!
Got a few things to do!!

Productive Weekend

Happy Father's Day to all!!

I hope everyone is as lucky as I am to have such an incredible dad!!

While out checking crops yesterday we spotted this mom and baby moose.

This is not a great picture as  they were quite far but it gives you some perspective how small the babies are and how much they grow!!

It was quite the aftermath after an evening of weeding in the garden!

We shopped for a microwave and came home with....

a new refrigerator and.....

.....a stove!!

These renos can really get out of hand!!

So I better get some work done as the hay is ready....

and the haybine is needing some TLC!!

Let There Be....

GYPROC!!

My contractor.....

otherwise known as 'Dad' came over yesterday.

To transform a very crooked and ratty looking wall

into a piece of art!

I have to say...there is a hot tub at Audio Video that is speaking to me!!

I wonder if it goes with the new deck?

It really could add to the sightline from the kitchen...

BUT

I need find a microwave first.

That way supper will cook faster and I would have more time to soak...

The hunt continues...

Decisions...Decisions....

Yesterday was spent OR wasted,

depending on your theory of progess,

in Regina,Saskatchewan.

Mom and I went to every(and I do mean every) store looking for a convection/microwave oven

OR

a Chimney range hood like this one.

Honestly...

It's not like I went with a one track mind.

I am not TOO picky but know what I like.

What a frustrating day!!

No one knows ANYTHING!!!

Salesmen tried to sell me a microwave that they SAID was convection but when I started to ask simple questions on how it worked it became very apparent that they did not have a clue!!

But we did find a sink and some flooring.

So the hunt is on again today.

I think there may even be a contractor named 'Dad' swinging by to put up so gyproc today!!

In the therapy department,

I have managed to finish the holly banner and start the third snowman block!!

A girl's got to keep her sanity in this process!

Demolition Day

I had to miss quilting yesterday.

It definately was a toss up as to where I would have rather been.

When the neighbours see the old grain truck pulled up to the house, I am sure they are saying 'OMG, She's at it again!!'

This is all that remains of my kitchen.

This is the last wall left to insulate so that calls for a new cupboards!!

For the past 4 summers, we have been upgrading our 90 year old house.

Dad and Max

A good contractor is hard to find but I am lucky to have the best dad.

My dad has been working magic with gyproc for 40 years and has worked his miracles on my house.

This was my utility room before....

and after!

Bathroom before.....

and after.

My sewing room in the middle of renos.

What used to be three bedrooms, has become one big and beautiful space.

I can't give you an after picture at the moment as my kitchen is living there right now.

I joke about how I have made my house warm and cozy and now I will be hot flashing and sewing with all the window open.
At least the windows open easy now!

This will be the SMALLEST reno we have ever done.

So stay tuned for progress...it won't be long before it is up and running!!

I might just have some summer this year.

Going to suck up some dust!

Petals in Full Bloom

Another one off the list!!

This quilt turned out quite large.

I need to find a better place to take a picture of it.

It is ready to go to my favorite longarmer, Terry Whitman.

The corners turned out quite cute with the dragonfly blocks in the corners

So after cleaning up my mess of purple I came across a purse pattern I printed off awhile back.

This is treat is from the Moda Bake Shop where great recipes can be had for free.

I loved this laminated ladybug fabric when I saw it in Sidney, MT at Quilts and More.

My first thought was a cute bag!!

I managed to make 3 of these cute bags in no time!!

Now for a closure and voila!!

I hear it is supposed to rain all weekend.Could be a productive sewing weekend!!
I  better go make good use of the sun today!!

Dragonfly Day Continues...

It was a stormy and super windy day yesterday.

But it was a great day to try a pattern out of my new book from Terry Whitman.

Just one of my great B Day gifts!!

I made four of these dragonfly blocks which I will put on the corners of my Petals quilt.

Thanks to Tracey for her suggestion on a border.

I am definately going to do it like that!! Stay tuned for the finished product in the NEAR future!!

I also received a surprise package in the mail.

Love surprises!!

It was a box filled with handmade cards, a mini purse and a book of inspirations!!

Thank you sooo much, Shelby!!

The holly banner has begun  in Winterwonder.

The sweet rockets are in full bloom.

The baby Killdeer are hatched.

Little powder puffs on sticks.

Summer is here!
