The Maiden Voyage

 Yesterday was my Uncle's Funeral.....

We were blessed to have him in our lives.

He will be missed.

It made us think we need to start taking the time to enjoy the little things in life.

So with a beautiful evening upon us....

We loaded up the kayaks.....

Headed down the dusty road......

To the low level crossing that was flowing over the road

We launched into the rapids...Yikes!!

They were only at the road...beware of rocks!!

Our adventure began....

We were surprised to find such a different world from what we always see from the road

There were clams on the banks....

Weird flowers we have never seen before.....

Mother ducks herding their babes down the creek....

The creek was flowing at a rate we could glide down...

As smooth as glass and not a bug to be had!!

The bridge was our half way mark....

This creek really twists and turns....

took us 2 hours to get to the next low level crossing!

It was an incredible evening...

As an added bonus to the evening,

Maryann brought me a gift of one of these bike baskets she made!!

How cute are these!!

I picked the one on the left

Thanks Maryann for the great evening and the basket!!

We need to do this more often!!

Take time to enjoy life...it is short!!

  3. My sympathy on the loss of your uncle. This post of yours reminded me of what a gentlemen said at a Rotary meeting here in Whitefish. He lost his father and his comment was "use your life when it's good as it has an expiration date." So true. Your family kayak trip is the good life.
