Arnold and I set off last week for a much needed vacation....
There is nothing better than a Margarita to start it on the right foot!!
We started off by going to Yellowstone National Park
Can't go by Glendive, Mt without stopping at Enchanted Living Gardens
and
a quick look at the Quilt Store!!
I thought of somone by the name of Angela when I saw these cat fabrics!!
Off to Red Lodge for Lunch...
and
a quick look at these incredible works of art made from sticks of downfall..
A bear...
Elk....
a Moose...
I loved this bench but it doesn't really go with the farm theme
AND
it would have to be strapped to the roof of the car for about a week!!
We started our ascent into Bear Tooth Pass...
This sign is hard to read but it says
"BE ADVISED - STAY ON ROAD"
REALLY???
Is there another option?
Even the GPS was lost!!
Last time we drove through here, it was completely snow filled above these sticks....
and waited for 3 hours for a snow plow to finish at the top of Wyoming!!
Thank goodness this one was randomly parked half way up!!
But there was some snow left...
We stopped to look at the views and saw our first groundhog.
Kind of significant since we were married
on
Feb. 2 - Ground Hog's Day!!
It was amazing to see the lakes up so high and blue
We went in through the Northwest Entrance of Yellowstone...
The Bison were everywhere....
The animals have the right of way in the park.
You can not make them move.
We managed to get a place in the park for the night
at
Canyon Village in the Cascade Lodge
Yellowstone is a great place to go to disconnect....
No tv and no cell service!!
The old time diner at Canyon Village was alot of fun for breakfast...
The server comes up the middle and takes care of you....
Our Server was named Dawson
He said he has never known another....
I said I do and SHE is as cute as you!!
We had lunch as we waited for Old Faithful
He was a reliable as always!!
We didn't see as many Elk this time....
But did get to see The Mammoth Hot Springs...
Little Grand Canyon....
The river....
Water falls....
and more waterfalls
There was series of little books in the shops..
I try to do this all the time...
Been there a few times....
Thought I should write one called 'Who pooped on the farm?'....
The Yellowstone Post Office was impressive....
Huckle berries grow wild in the park.
A lady told us you can't go wrong making anything with a huckleberry!!
I think Colleen Marcotte would beg to differ with that!!
I bought Colleen some jam to see what they are SUPPOSED to taste like!!
We wound ourselves around hugging the mountains...
Through huge rock...
To the west exit where this little hangover used to be WOOD!!!
I was nervous with it being cement!!!
We headed out of the park through the west Golden Gates up to Bozeman,MT
The adventure continues!!

That's hilarious because just yesterday I read about a lady in the Prairie Gardener who planted Huckleberries. She got a large harvest of beautiful berries but they tasted AWFUL. I can relate! Can't wait to taste the jam. Have a good holiday!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Jeff and I were in Yellowstone in February! We were on a snow machine trip and traveled 90 miles round tip in a day. Got to see Old Faithful, but it was a grey day and not very impressive. Did get to see bison and they are impressive. I love looking at them! I am going to show your post to hubby and I'm sure he'll add it to his bucket list :)

You should have come to Glacier instead and we could have hung out ... and you wouldn't have to do the Bear Tooth Pass. You probably know how good the quilt shops are in Bozeman. Go out to Quilting in the Country. I love it!
