Border Creek Station Quilt

Nothing like waiting till there is a little pressure....

I finished this quilt

Stars in the Valley by Border Creek Station

earlier this summer and had Terry Whitman quilt it for me.

Before quilting...

Good thing....

It is a wedding gift for my daughter, Chantel who is getting married on December 27th,2014!!

I think it's a very fitting color for a Christmas wedding...

I finally got it bound...
(with Suzie's Magic Binding of course!!)

One of the tricks I learned in Houston.....

Use shelf liner instead of gloves
to move your quilt
through your machine when working with large projects!!

Thanks,Phillipa Naylor.....that was a great tip!!

I just love the end result with technique....

I definitely will do this quilt again!

The instructions were great!!

Can't you see this in scrappy blues??

The View from Here

I think today qualifies as a snow day....

Good thing we finished winterizing the calving shed yesterday!!

I had the pleasure of teaching another class of Cathedral Ceilings...

These girls were members of the Weyburn Crocus Quilters

They are always alot of fun!!

This was Brenda's...

she's trying to hide her points which did not require hiding!!

Ester's.... Love the grey and red combo!!

Jaynie's... she ALWAYS thinks outside the box!!

One day you will see this in some fabulous creation!!

Leanne's lime greens are so fresh...

Thanks for the fun!!
You were all great students....

Now for my teaching...that's another story!!

The reason why there were no evaluation sheets...BRENDA!!

She SAAAAYS she just wanted to add that buttons or yoyos

should be a prerequisite in this class to hide the points!!

I am off to sew my day away!!

I hope you ENJOY!!

This project was off to a shaky start as many of you already know

I should refer to it as the Million Dollar Quilt!!

(To read about that..... click HERE)

But as I complete each month....

I am loving it more and more....

It is amazing to see a quilt come to life.....

one bite at a time.....

I am at the half way mark...

Month 6 - Applique

I have not mastered needle turn...

Not sure I ever will be able to!!

So I am going with fusible....

Soft Fuse is a product I purchased at Houston Quilt Festival

Much like Misty Fuse but with backing

It's really nice and light!

This is the first of 3 series of corners...

I think Dawson likes what she sees....

This quilt will come with quite a story by the time it's done!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

My New 'Horizon'

From Halloween to Fall,

the days are really ticking away....

The first thing on my list for Houston Quilt Festival

was

some Horizon Fabric by Kate Spain

I had all the girls on HIGH ALERT for this new line!!

Well..no luck...

BUT

Look what I found at Pleasant Pheasant Fabrics in CROSBY,ND on Saturday!!!

Tamra had every bolt but one

(which is on back order and I have my request in!!)

It is all hacked up and ready to go...

For Guild on Thursday!!

I am going to make a mini version of Cathedral Ceilings

I may have to get some more for this quilt pattern!!

So bright and sunny...

Just loving it!!

Best Way to Stay Warm

It has been so long since I have had time to sew...

But with -18C temps, I was super happy to spend some time in my sewing room today!

Month 5 of my Sedona Star.......

I gave needle turning a try on the centres of these stars...

There are a lot of Y seams in this quilt.... Next round is appliqué.....

I need to think about what technique I will use and color placement

As if I don't have enough started....I couldn't wait to chomp into my new purchase from Houston!!

From the Coast With Love by McKenna Ryan

McKenna's fabrics are incredibly beautiful......

I can't wait to work on this some more!!!

I think the weather is supposed to be cold tomorrow again....

A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do!!

You know what I'll be dreaming about tonight!!

Lest We Forget....

Take some time today to remember those who fought for our freedom

and

those who serve today.

Can't thank you enough...

Coming Home

We were gone for 7 days but it felt like 4...

We challenged our suitcases maxing them out at 50lbs
and
carrying the rest!!

Some things just wouldn't fit in our luggage...

There were so many more thing we wanted to buy....

Teasing us at every bend

I needed another hobby like a hole in the head.....

But I could not resist.....

And as if Market and Festival was not enough

we toured to local Stores!!

This vintage quilt was calling my name...

I had the kit in my hands 100 times...

But in the end I settled for the book and pattern!!

In Galveston, Tx we went to the seawall....

It was all we could do not to stay there for the day!!

Terry and Sharon waded into the surf....

Took a moment to write in the sand....

We ate like stuffed turkeys....

At Festival Hill I loved this saying...

Why  Dream Ordinary

cvr cotidiana somnies - why dream ordinary

 Festival Hill at Roundtop

 was a work of art

 having been built in 1981

A modern day treasure!!

After the hurricanes, many big old trees were damaged

This dog was a tree at one time!!

but

The tinman

some talented people carved them into works of art...

A geisha girl

Dolphins and mermaids

The houses in Galveston were so beautiful...

Bishop's palace....

Fit for a king

I think we need to go back and tour these homes!!

The Catholic Church

The oldest house in Galveston...

Great verandas....

Row Houses....

'

I felt like we were in New Orleans!!
