Rain, Rain...Go Away...

Things are definitely luscious and green with all this rain!!

These wild kitties thought they were hiding in the roses....

Till they turned around to see Dawson was watching them!!

Combining has been painfully slow with all the moisture...

So I have been using my time wisely...

I am on Month 2 of the Sedona Star...

I figured if Tracey over at The Block Party Guild can get out of her comfort zone

and

mix PRINTS with BATIKS then I would give this pinning thing a try...

Voila... it worked!!

A little more paper piecing.....

and the points are ready for the next round!!

Looking like another rain day.....

I'll be in my sewing room!!!

Sedona Star

I have been in love with the Sedona Star Quilt since the Minot Quilt Show in March

I have hymned and hawed for months about purchasing this pattern.

This pattern is by Sarah Vedeler
and
only avaliable as a PDF at a cost of 60$

I have guilt selling my pattern at 10$ and that is a printed version!!

I finally bit the bullet

(good thing we have gun laws in Canada...keep reading...)

I took my download to Staples to save some money on printing....

I NEVER realized there was HUNDREDS of pages!!!!

I had sticker shock when the girl said it would be 350$!!!

All I could say was NO..NO...NO...NO...NO....

I can't have a quilt pattern worth that kind of money...my husband is going to shoot me!!

This is just the pattern...the templates are this thick too!!

After some serious negotiating, I settled with Staples for a fraction of that.
(Thank you, Staples)

I take full responsibility as I didn't go through it page by page.

I knew it was a 12 month block quilt.

NEEEVERR dreamed it was 300 pages with a dab of color on every page!!

PDF Pattern...60$

Printing at Staples.....50$

25 YARDS of Fabric.....300$

Batting and Quilting.....200$

Mental strain....Priceless

I will be lucky if my husband does apply for a gun licence!!!

I may need to go into hiding..

anyone know a warm cave with good lighting??

My Hoffman Challenge Purse

This was the challenge fabric for 2014...

I decided to try to make a purse...

Just winging it ALL the way...

Having no idea where I may end up...

I called it 'Stepping Out' as it's way OUT of anywhere I would be going with it!!

I submitted my 'purse' for the Hoffman Challenge back in January....

This little package arrived in the mail yesterday from Hoffman Challenge....

The letter stated that my purse was chosen
 to be part of
the Travelling Hoffman Trunk Show till October 2015!!

As a token of appreciation......

Some fabric and Sulky thread!!

How fun!!

A Very Productive Week

Between the rains,

We have managed to get some swathing done...

We had a picnic in the hayfield with the Whitmans last night...

Behind Boundry Dam.....

To watch some fireworks....

It was an amazing display of color...

And we had front row seats....

Only 100 yards from where they were set off...

Some were shot off into the water and came back up into the sky!!

It was part of the Beach Bash for Boundry..

It was a fun evening!!

Thanks to the Whitmans for inviting us!!

We also had a reconnaissance mission
to
recovering Justin's pigs from the neighbours place...

Yup...those are 2  VERY DIRTY pigs in the back seat of MY truck!!

I think Justin owes me some detailing for my truck!!

I also finished a quilt for my friend, Pat Jones...

Pat had a stroke just after purchasing the fabric for a Judy Neimeyer quilt.

I felt so bad for her so I offered to make the quilt for her....

I have a 'Love-Hate' relationship with these patterns.

I LOVE the end result
but
HATE the waste of fabric as per Judy's instructions.

After all the components are sewn together...

There is some serious paper removal...

involved in getting to the end....

This is the LOVE part....

It's off to Terry Whitman's to be quilted!!

Going to be gorgeous..
