Goodbye Houston!!

There was only one 'event' at Houston for us....

On preview night.

There was an evacuation order to leave the building.

No one seemed to know what the incident was
but
with 12000 women a day at this show...

I was not taking any chances.

I didn't need anything THAT bad!!

This was the line up to get in as I headed for my hotel for the night!!

It turned out to be a fire in a dumpster out back so the show continued!!

Anyone recognize this cowboy??

It's Ricky Tims!!

I didn't bother him!!

The girls ran into Jenny Doan of Missouri Star again this year!

She and her husband are the nicest people.

Sandi, Jymmi, Jenny and Charlene

The girls loved how Jenny and her man walked away holding hands.

International Quilt Festival is like Hollywood for Quilters!!

The girls took a few other classes.

These sneakers were one of Sandi's classes

Jymmi Kaye took a class on making vases

In my mixed media class,

I met Ana Buzzalino of Calgary!!

She made the prettiest rocks with paint!!

June Colburn did a talk on collaging fabrics...

I met a lady at lunch one day....

She was taking a class by Robi Eklow

I have never seen these works of art but was in love!!

I managed to find her classroom and purchase a pattern from her!!

Her colors are fabulous!!

Next time in Houston I am taking a class from her for sure!!

These two cuties were spotted in fine attire in the show each day!!

Those were the days when style was happening!!

Our 'last' supper was at District 7 diner.

Delicious peach Bellini's and great food.

It was Good bye, Houston....till we meet again!!

This was our third time.

It is such a quilter's haven...

Recharged and ready to sew!

No trip to Festival is complete without a TSA search of my suitcase!!
I am sure they wonder what the heck all those treasures are for!!

Thanks for the fun, Jymmi Kaye, Sandi and Charlene!!

Good times....

My First Hawaiian Quilt

And probably my last.....

I wanted to learn some needle turn techniques
 so
I took a class with Lisa McAdams

She was really good and I am getting better every day.

I want to try a Baltimore Autumn Quilt one day...

Stay tuned!!

I attended a couple of luncheons at Festival.

Judy Barrows of Square in a Square

She had a trunk show of antique quilts
and
the stories behind them.

I found it very interesting.

This was a political party quilt.

The No Nothings party.

I think we have this Party running our country at the moment!!

These quilts looked new!!

This basket quilt was made with soldiers uniform scraps.

This quilt was so white and perfect condition....

Minus the hole in the middle from wearing in storage where it was folded!!

Judy also has a series of novels based on the family's history in the South.

I was hoping to see my Prince in Houston.

Nope...

It was part of the 25 quilts in the Tribute Tour in Pasadena, CA

I met Cynthia Poko who was also was looking for her.

Hers is the Crown Quilt

It was also in Pasadena, too!!

This year's Cherrywood Challenge is Bob Ross

Not sure I can tackle this one....but I bought the bundle.

Got my thinking cap!

Can I go three for three??

Animals of Festival 2018

Of course....living on the farm....

I love animals!!

Susan Engler had this quilt in Houston.

Yup... this little cutie is a quilt!!

Lioudmila Malchow of Wyoming had an exhibit of her animals

These are all thread painting!!

So realistic!!

Pictures....especially mine....

do not do them justice!!

I loved the colors of the horses by Lorraine Turner of Florida

Her exhibit of these colorful wave crashing horses were beautiful!!

Amazing collage of fabrics

Oh the colors!!

And what better to go with the horses than saddles!!

Cathy Wiggins had an exhibit of saddles she had dismantles
and
reconstructed using quilted leather she had manipulated!!

These are incredible works of art!!

In case you are a Game of Thrones fan...

Such detail!!

Cathy had a display of wall art two years ago at Houston
 so
it was great to see her progression in her quilting life!!
