With the temperature at -19C,
it was a great time to head to Vegas for the week!!
Jeremy decided to come but Chantel couldn't so we took her along with us!!
and you know the rule.. What happens in Vegas!!!
So off we went for the week...
to the Mecca of lights and life!!
We stayed at the Mirage...such a fresh and beautiful hotel....
We hit the streets walking to see the sights.....
For a moment, we thought this was an old MGM lion but look close....
It's a cow in lions clothing!!
The Vortex tubes at Aria were the only way to watch Tornadoes!!
Water was siphoned out of one tube and into another creating the swirls!!
We saw the new Ferris Wheel being constructed behind Harrah's Hotel....
And went to a Circue De Solie called Zarkana.
There are some amazingly talented people in the art of acrobatics.
I found it hard enough to just WALK let alone do the tricks these people did.
I had to see the sewing machines in Cosmopolitan Hotel
Thanks for the tip, Brenda King!!
I discovered I don't have a gambling problem but I sure could collect sewing machines.
These were two of the cute ones I loved!!
I wanted to have something to show for my money so I booked a quilt shop hop!
Susan of Quilt Tours of Las Vegas came to my hotel and whisked me away in her van for the day
This was her very fitting licence plate...
There were three of us..
One lady from Brantford, Ontario and one from REGINA,Sk!!!
All Canadians hitting the shops!!
The first shop was FABRIC BOUTIQUE...
This store had been CLEANED out from the Desert Shop hop this past weekend
but
still had amazing things!!
Tons of samples...
Lots of prairie point pieces....
A little NY Beauty in Southwest design...
Feathered Stars.....
Cute minis....
Loving all the stars in log cabin....
These little paper pieced seasons were adorable...
Such detail...
and every one of the patterns were gone!!
Lots of Halloween....
Big and small....
Next was the CHRISTMAS GOOSE...
My favorite... though they were all awesome in their own way!!
an Itsy Bitsy Twister Christmas tree..
The vintage napkins and tableclothes were so cheap at this store.
Colleen Marcotte would have been in heaven!!
They made all kinds of things with the vintage lace like this apron...
And all the employees were wearing DUSTERS!!
It was all new things I have never seen before...
Quilted samplers...
And lots of applique...
Valdani Embroidery thread..which I have been looking for!!!
Lots of Civil War colors...
Love all the BOMs!!
Then it was off to FIDDLESTICKS in Boulder City,NV
These raggedy ann and andy's were adorable.
Such detail in the making of them!!
(No... There are not creepy, Terry!!)
They held a paint chip challenge and these minis were the result of that!!
So cute and beautiful colors...
Each shop did their own rendition of an Irish Chain themed quilt
This was my favorite!
And I couldn't help think of Jane when I was this bucket of buttons!!
I almost bought a scoop!!
Last but not LEAST.. that's for sure... was QUILTIQUE
Wouldn't you know it??
Judy Niemeyer is there all month teaching classes!!
I was only a voyeur.....
This store was bright and sunny with tons of color....
yo yo Christmas Trees....
and lots of Embroidered Feather Stars...
and Christmas Villages....
Tea cups.....
and tons of Batiks brought in for the classes with Judy...
I hit the jackpot at this store!!
Lots of Thimble Blossoms like this...
'Spools' in shaded of red and grey.....
It was a great way to do Vegas!!
Thanks to Susan for the great shophop!!
Christa
OOOOH!! I was waiting for this post. I gotta go back and read it again!
ReplyDeleteDo you know the name of the log cabin christmas tree quilt?
DeleteI love the feathered star quilt on the bed at Quiltique.
Quiltique has the absolute best fabric shelves...they hold a ton of fabric, but they still keep the shop open and bright!
Sounds like a fabulous time. You are quite a tease though, unless...... you did pick me up some linens! Is the next post on what you bought?
ReplyDeleteI had about four things in my hand for your but the other side of my brain said what if she doesn't like it....or she already feels like she has enough......and I put them down!! Same with the scoop of buttons for Jane.....my intentions WERE good but my follow through SUCKED!
DeleteYes, do take a photo of what you bought. I have the mini-quilt pattern "Think Spring" if you every need it. I hope you got to the Mob Museum and the Neon Museum which are my two favorite non-quilty things to do in Vegas.
ReplyDeleteIs that the only seasonal pattern that you have, Brenda?
DeleteYes, of those miniatures. I did a cute little Christmas tree one last year. It was from a magazine but I can't remember which one!
DeleteI would love to borrow 'Think Spring' one day!! They were all out of all the cute minis! I'll have to save the neon and Mob museum for next time! S little time and so much to do! The boys did make it to the Pawn Stars though!
ReplyDeleteWow! Though I said I would never go back to Las Vegas, I may have to eat my words to visit these adorable quilt shops! Thank You for a wonderful tour of each shop and for posting all the pictures. :) Hope you had/have a wonderful trip.
