Busy Days

You know my life has been full when I say I have had some busy days!!

We were invited to The Community Futures AGM in Forget,Sk

Who can pass that opportunity up!!

The Happy Nun Cafe is under new management
 but
Things are much that same as the founding owners
(Yah!!)

We dined on Rosmary crusted Prime rib and smashed garlic potatoes

And some INTENSE chocolate brownie with raspberry sauce

It was a taste explosion!!

Then it was back to baling in my "downtime"....

The skies have been a light show of storms but no rain

We wanted to go to the races on Friday
but
decided to stay home and bale

Just as I saw this rainbow over my house

I got a text saying the races were cancelled due to lightening
(metal seats and electricity...not a good mix)

Was my lucky day!!

Last night they had a double feature at the races to make up for the cancellation!!

The racing trucks were in town too!!

It amazes me how much they can fish tail and stay on the track.

I can't replicate that on my dirt roads!!

Since it was a balmy 31C it was a beautiful evening!!

There was a calcutta and all modes of race cars raced at the same time on the track.

It was interesting to see each class stayed in their section never catching up to each other.

This could cut the time to see races in half!!

Today is our oldest son, Jeremy's birthday

Can you believe he is 30??

This is Arnold with Chantel and Jeremy...doesn't he look impressed??

Where have the days gone??

Jaxon and Uncle Jeremy

We had brunch with all the kids for his birthday.

Today Jaxon was wearing a special shirt...

He has just been promoted to BIG BROTHER.

He has a sibling on the way!!

Won't it be interesting to see how impressed he will be!!

Soon to be a Gma x 2
(Gma: Grandma in the texting world)

Summer Sewing

Summer is here!!!

My japanese lilac is blooming like crazy!!

I always feel like I don't get alot of opportunity to sew in the summer

A couple of years ago,
I decided I am going to sew for an hour in the morning each day
(when I can squeeze it in)

So this gorgeous fabric from my friend, Pat...

has inspired me to make another Wedding Star by Judy Neimeyer

I made this one for Arnold's parent for their 50th anniversary

This time it's going to be for ME!!

7 sets of rings....lots more to go!!

On another note....anyone have a dog deathly afraid of thunder??

I sure do....

Dawson blew through the screen when it cracked the other day!!

Like I needed another job to do!!!

Yeesh.....

I will try to sew in the morning

Make hay in the sunshine!!

Days Of Old...

This was the site at Justin's yesterday.....

A new truck and an old Case...living in both worlds.

For Father's Day we took in the events at Denis&Sharon Kuntz Farm

He has done an amazing job of showcasing history....

You feel like you stepped back in time for a moment...

With his little mock village...

I was feeling like we work like crazy fools all summer
but
after seeing how much harder things really were...

We started cutting hay this week but not with knives like this....

Before you can even start cooking you had to gather wood....

Toast and butter all took time to make....

Arnold said these are not THAT old....

He vividly remembers digging peanut butter out of these cans...

and Rogers Syrup in these cans...

I love this wrapping station...

Makes it feel like everything you purchased was special

Ironing...

Sewing....

Shoe making...

Making and stretching your socks...

Washing your clothes was an event....

No tossing it in and going to do something else...

Even the bathroom was an experience...

A staple of every outhouse... Sears catalogues...

They served as reading material and toiler paper!!!

Milk came from cows like Justin's recent purchase....

Sweet Pea... a jersey cow
(he is fostering some calves)

Then bottled in glass bottles.....

with paper caps...

Combining took days with the size of this No.12A

Look at this 317, Dad!!

Just like the one you're still using.... in the lineup of Vintage!!

Yet people still took time to take the baby for a walk...

Such a sweet little pram...

Since we are celebrating history....

We were asked to come help celebrate 75 years for Dairy Queen

Estevan's store was the first one in Canada
and
they were having a party yesterday!!

Congratulations to Louise,Loretta, and Denise...

Three sisters running a great business!!

It's back to the field for me....

The clover is being plowed down...

You can see why it was important that I found my phone before it got too tall!!!

And after a pass with this disc there would be nothing left of it!!

I have to say.....

I am proud to carry on the tradition of farming.

Growing good food,

Christa
