Cruising the Caribbean

Eight of boarded the Carnival Magic to set sail for the Caribbean.

We were celebrating Arnold's mom's 80th birthday

Our first stop was Amber Cove, Dominican

We hired a driver to take us all on a tour....

 

First stop... 

Macorix Rum Factory

 

We sampled 8 kinds of rum

 

Then staggered to the van to head to the Amber Museum

Amber is sap from a tree that no longer exists in Amber Cove,

 that has turned into stone.

 After a volcanic eruption millions of years ago,

Time stopped in the center of these gems...

There are bugs and leaves trapped in the center

Amber ranges in color 

Who knew? 

This is what it looks like before being polished and shined up!!

Our driver took us to the top to see the spectacular views....

Next stop was the Del Oro Chocolate Factory...

Then back to the ship

For some fine dining....

and sipping....
