Good Bye Sandals...Hello Snow

I said good bye to my sandals...
at least till Spring.

We always travel in January
so
we are home for calving which will start in a couple of weeks

Maybe I can get the cows to schedual their calving this year....

I eased into my regular life by going to guild

where the Estevan girls came for a visit
and
gave us a hand to start hand quilting this Grandmother's Flower Garden

They brought out some show and tell

This was Maria's Tessilating Stars

Miss Rose's hand quilted Missouri star quilt

Eileen's in different colors

I also unpacked my treasures from my trip

A table cloth from Caribelle Batiks

My shop hop fabrics from The Quilt Shop of Deland,Fl

The first is words(I can't resist), the 2nd is the Australian Fabric,
and
the 3rd is the line of fabric created by the shop owner.

I think they would make a cute bag...
particularly...this one!!

At the World Quilt Festival I snatched up some little tags

Purse handles

And this polish that smooths out your extension table.

Then I dove into putting my Farmer's Wife Quilt together

It's going to be a big quilt!!

In Bismark, I stumbled on this short piled minky that looks like cow hide

I think it's in keeping with the ranching theme so it will  be the back!!

Now...
to find some warm socks....

The Start of Harvest

Like the farmer I am,
I have seeded this crop and the harvest is just beginning!!
I finally took a moment and laid out all my Farmer's Wife blocks
This is going to be a big quilt!!

I am going to use a light beige for set-in triangles

This piece with all the words were fitting for this quilt

They are going on point.

Set in triangles are a bit scared because of all the bias
but
after reading 52 Quilts in 52 Weeks blog about how to avoid that!!

Thanks so much, Marti!!!

Going to really like this one!!

Sewing these together seems SO easy compared
to
how intense these little 6" blocks were!!

Tracey...Are ready for the Pony Club???

I can lend you one of my horses if that's a prerequisite!!

Anyone have the book they want to sell??
(we are gluttens for punishment, aren't we!!)

The Grand Finale of Blocks

I was hoping to finish my FW blocks

before January 1,2016

but with that 'extra' quilt tossed in there...

I had to trickle into the New Year....

With the final block sewn....

I need to decide how I am going to put these 99 blocks together

I am leaning towards a light sashing

This was a challenging quilt

with many of the blocks having 30 - 90 pieces in a 6" block

I am lucky I didn't end up

like some of the wild west wives who were carted off to a mental institute!!

I watched HOMELAND while making some of these!!
(I could feel for those women!)

I know my perseverance will have paid off!!

Farmer's Wife Progress

I have to apoligize for the disorganized fashion this blog has been lately.

I am not sure what'g going on
but
it feels like a western line dance.

Some pictures are to the left,to the left, to the left

then

to the right, to the right, to the right...

Grab your partner and swing her 'round!!!

It's all supposed to be centered
 but
 it changes by itself.

I'll keep striving for improvements...promise.

Aaaaanyways....

I didn't feel very accomplished after retreat
 since
I did not come home a finished project after 4 days of sweat shop sewing.

But after going through the blocks I did finish...

64 Monette
57 pieces in a 6 inch block!!

I am feeling a little better about it!

65 Mother

These are proving to be pretty time consuming

66 Mrs. Anderson

For the size that they are

69 Mrs. Keller

At 6 inches finished...

70 Mrs. Lloyd

They can be intense...

71 Mrs Morgan

But I am sure after they are all put together in a quilt

72 Mrs. Smith

I am going to love it

73 Mrs. Taft

Even though they are THE farthest thing from perfect!!

74 Mrs. Thomas

A headless horseman???

80 Patricia

These are supposed to be wonky sides but looks like I just did them wrong!!

89 Ruby

And this special little package....

She got put away at retreat.

Pretty frustrated with the angles on this one!!!

Not sure if I will finish 99 blocks.

Might just be 98.

Will see.
