Artists Colony 2016

I have been anticipating this retreat for months

  The Artist's Colony at Moose Mountain Park

I was excited to sew in such a quaint and quiet atmosphere

I brought all my favorite things to hang in my cabin

I even finished a few things

such as this Country Chic pattern in Zen Chic fabrics

It was five fun filled fabulous days hanging out and sewing!!

I worked on my barn quilt which I could have sold 3 times 

but

 it's not done!!!

I didn't think of selling my 'wares'

I was just going to sew

 but

  people kept asking so I sold a few things

My first sale was my lunch bag!!

It's going to Australia with the Hume family..

Thank you to all my friends and family that came for a visit!!

My second sale was my WOW bag which was purchased by Debbie Sorenson 

I was all packed up and heading home 

when

 Audrey Bonkowski asked for a peak!!

I did a quick trunk show literally....

She loved my last WOW bag and took it home!!

It was so much fun...

I am going to try to book for next year if they will have me!!

It was relaxing... at least from Justin's vantage point!

He told me to try it but I would still be in it....

I had a great view of the lake...

That little triangle on the lake is Maryann wind sailing!!

I had the honour of being there with Ken Frederickson who is sculptor

I teased him that I can say "I knew him when..."

 as 

he has only begun sculpting and is incredible!!

It was excellent timing too... 

The Red Market Barn of Kenosee Lake

 and

 the Happy Nun of Forget, Sk 

joined forces to put on a Summer Barn Supper

It was a nice evening of 60 people

shared communal style

My last project at the Colony was this Canadian flag

We live in an incredible country...

I was glad to take some time and enjoy it....

And one place to go...

Kenosee Artist Cabin!!!!

This is the  Visitor Centre is located in the historic 1931 fieldstone chalet

 which

 is now a Designated Provincial Heritage Building, overlooking Kenosee Lake.

This.....

is one of the cabins I get to call home for the next 5 days!!

All kinds of artisans have had the pleasure 

to work on their art

Wendy Lang's eggs

in these quaint little cabins throughout the summer.

Ken Frederickson is sculpting...

Margaret Delainey is painting up a garden...

Nikki Jacquin is doing portrait painting

There are new residents all the time 

so

 be sure to check it out if you are in the area!!

I will be quilting on August 4-8th!!

Some Rest for the Weary....

The skies in Saskatchewan this summer have been incredible...

 

Not to mention scary with all the storms!!

 

 

Between haying and the garage build,





The crew waiting for another day of work...maybe they could wash the window...

We managed to squeeze in a trip to Kenosee Lake......

to stay at the cabins....

 

I got to spend some time with Jaxon when everyone went golfing....

 

Go to one of the last remaining drive-ins where the line up was super long...

 

Still on the highway waiting to get in!!!

We were one of the last to get in before the show started!!

We just don`t build things like we used to....

 

 

The Artist`s Colony was stationed at all the little cottages again this year...

One of my favorites is Prairie Fire Studio 

 

by Margaret Delainey of Regina, Saskatchewan.

 

 

Margaret just happens to be the mother of another super talented artist, Brenda Blackburn.

My favorite picture is the poppies....

 

but really they were all works of art....

It could be a Quilting - Painting Retreat!!

 

On the quilting frontier.....

 

I did manage to find a moment to finish my Squirrel in the Forest Friends Series.

 

 

 

 

Kind of fitting for some time at the lake!!

 

Now to concentrate on getting some my flower beds looking like mom`s!!

 

I know my flowers are under there some where....

 

It is going to be brutal!!
