Minot Quilt Show 2014

The hotel was ready and we hit the ground running....

Maryann Whitman, Lori Loewen and I were pumped up for the adventure...

We searched for Sharon Armstrong's "Rose of Sharon"
as
we saw the beginning of this last year at our retreat....

Awesome job, Sharon!!

Second Prize!!

"Best in Show" was this stunning quilt....

SEDONA STAR

-pieced by Kathleen Moorehead Johnson of ND

This was a BOM in 2012
on
The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims

It was a work of art.....

BUT....

So was this one.....

Annnnnd this  one!!!

Three different Sedona Stars!!!

This is my next MUST HAVE...

If anyone out there happens to have Sedona Star pattern and is looking to sell.....

I am looking to buy!!

I may have to follow Tracey Holzer's footsteps
and
hunt down one of the owners of these three masterpieces!!

The fun didn't end there....

Inspiration was everywhere....

The show's theme was butterflies....

Spring was in the air
(not outside though!!)

The quilting on this Dahlia was so intricate....

A Judy Neimeyer.....

The booths were stuffed with eye candy....

A raggy Cathedral Window...

Snow dyed fabric from Colors by Claudia...

Walls of Wool at Rae-Bon Quilts....

A Wall

minis....

So adorable...

Loved the Spinning Stars....

We reconnected with old(I mean, YOUNG) friends, Betty, Linda and Joanne...

Betty's vintage project

Madeline and Bev....Playing in the UFO Room.....

Toured NEW friend's rooms....

shared show and tell....

These girls turned their suite into a Quilter's retreat of their own....

We ran into our new friends all over town!!

We did not have room in OUR car for a cartful from Joannes!!

Hope to run into Julie and the girls in our future adventures!!

This booth was one of my favorites....

Great colors....

Valdani Thread!!!

There were flannels that looked like wool....

Walls of real wool....

 Small works of art...

Look how tiny this nine patched were!!

MAYBE an inch big.....

Bear paws.....

Sweetwater Quiltshop had the cutest vintage stuff....

They made the little stands for their minis...

Very victorian and vintage...

Pretty sweeeeet all right!!!

It was a great time-

visiting, laughing, shopping, show and telling!!

Great rules for life.....

I really need to work on the 'Clean up' part!!

Now to go fondle my new fabric!!

Christmas Spirit in the Air...

The nutcrackers are lined up in the stores....

And I have started stitching on Snow Flurries by Crabapple Hills

quilt-pattern-snow-flurries

I am using Valdani Thread #12 weight in shades of dark blues....

with a little Silver thrown into the mix!!

I had been looking for Valdani for some time at local shops to no avail

 but

finally found it in Vegas at Christmas Goose Quilt Store.

I wanted to buy the entire display...yarn and all!!!

I used a Fabric Fusion pen to trace my designs on to snowflake print white on white...

It disappears when ironed!!

I love the words.....

And NO... I am not following that pattern!!
(no shock to most of you I am sure)

I am stitching all the words and snowflakes and will make blocks to go with them

I need to find a better way to take pictures because these don't do it justice..

Maybe I'll try taking some pictures outside....

Valdani is beautiful to work with and was worth the wait!!

The stitching continues.....

ps. On a side note....

T'is the Hunting Season too- even though I like my critters on their feet

These hunters were at the Border coming into Canada to do a show up north...

I hope they dressed warm... they aren't in Kansas anymore!!

A driving billboard for their show!!

Pretty cool!!!
