Lady bugs and Poppies

This is the last of my laminated 'Ladybug' fabric.

Too cute... so this one is for ME!!

The screening is called Pet D-Fence by New York Wire Co.

With the zoo I am running around here, I will need to find some more for my patio screen!!

It comes on a roll of 85"x45".

My mom bought mine in the Arizona at Joanne's.

I have seen some screening online in different colors
but
I don't think it is the same quality as this brand.

I have made 2 large bags....

Breanna's bag
and 2 medium bags with a roll.

I still have pieces to use in projects like my art organizer.

Aunt Michelle's bag

The possibilities are endless with this project!

Grandma's bag

Maybe Miss Carol knows of another place to access this screening?

It seems HomeDepot carries it for around 25$/roll.
I am going to the Creative Stitches in Calgary on the weekend.

I will keep my eye out for some more screening for all you bag ladies out there!!

Bismark or Bust!

A quilter's worst fear.....

Your machine dying in the middle of a class!!!

Well, It happened to my girlfreind last week.

The machine had outlived it's life so she was on the hunt for a new Janome.

So.... that meant a road trip to Bismark Sewing and Quilting Shop!!

This store is amazing!
or
Should I say 'AWE-SHOME' as Colleen's little grandson would say!!

More fabric than you could ever want for!

Great samples everywhere....

I am finding myself more and more attracted to the Bella Verona.

I think this may be my next quilt!!

And look who was in the store!!

Nancy!!

Scared the stitches right out of Terry and I.
She is so life like!!

The skeleton .....

 of a Janome.

This one made me think of Tracey as I was filling her order at the this store!

Bismark is a great city.

Clean and beautiful and a ton of shopping!!

It may need to be our next adventure as quilters!

A new machine was had and it was back home.

Been to Bismark AND busted the Bank all in one day!!

Just a little morning smile....
Try to overlook the dirty windows and tossle of fire pit chairs!!

Winny and one of her kittens......

"Is it all clear? Can we get in, Mom???"

Second Organizer

I completed the second Organizer yesterday in opposite cladding as the first.

There is nothing like a little hand binding and a good program on a blustery cold day.

Ordinarily I don't have an issue with zippers

BUT

this one had some malfunction at the junction of Zipper and 49th.

I considered ripping it out but that would involve taking the whole thing apart.

I declined.

I used clear vinyl for all the pockets on the second one and have to say I like the first one more.

The black screening gives it contrast.

Since it's another blustery cold day, I am off to my sewing room!!

Fall Skies

Yesterday was a great day to haul the last of the square bales.

The contrast of the grey skies and golden fields are incredible.

Do you think I can get a picture without Dawson in it.

That dog is on crack(and so is the truck window and mirror)!!

She is everywhere!

Dawson again!

There was only two loads so Arnold just threw them in the truck while I placed them.

Who needs a gym??

Old Blue has seen better days but it just keeps working!

Justin and his co-pilot, Dawson(again)!

Stacking bales in the cattleshed.....

NOW we are ready for winter!

Just didn't know it was going to start today!!

The Classmate by Atkinson Designs

We had our first fall quilting/therapy session on Thursday so I decided to cut into this one!

I got all the pieces cut for two organizers.

It called for clear vinyl for the pockets but I decided to use some screening also.

Construction was fairly straight forward...

inside layer

.....unlike some of these patterns I have used in the past.

outside layer

This was a package of fabric I purchased from The Prairie Rose Quilt Shop in Minot this summer.

It was for a purse but I just thought it would go well with this organizer.

There was a suggestion for a zipper pull using the remainer of the zipper that was cut off.

It works out quite well.

I used this for a clasp.

I may need to change it to a clip instead as it may be tough to open when it is filled with stuff!!

But all in all, I think it worked out pretty well!!

One Christmas gift down......many more to go!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!!

Resurrected.....

And I am not talking about Jesus!!

Winter is coming and I have been thinking I need a project to do in the evenings.

 Knitting?? Hmmm....no.

Can't crochet if my life depended on it...so.... no.

But that dusty bag in the corner....

maybe...

 and I do mean.... DUSTY!!

I sneezed as I opened the quilt patch bag.

It has been home to my grandmothers flower garden for about....

let see.......

4 YEARS!!!

This was one of the lessons at the School House Retreat, we attended with The Quilt Patch in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan MANY years ago.

I joked with the girls that it will be done when I die so just drape it on my casket-

what ever size it ends up being.

But since then I have decided I want to be cremated and scattered in the wind.

So I think this is large enough to cover the table that my box can sit on at the memorial.

Actually...

as I think about it..

Don't waste a money on a box.

I am fine with a ziplock bag, then stick me in one of the many bags or purses I've made.

Then scatter me in the wind and re-use the purse!

  So who knows!

Maybe I can get this project to a size that it can be covering the family table!!

We will see where my 'lifetime' takes me!!

Tending to this garden,

Border Patrol on Bounce

I really would have loved to take a picture of the finished Bounce outside

but trust me

.....it's an indoor day!!

So this will have to do till a nicer day.

I am just hoping there will be some kind of moisture from this weather.

We sooooo need it!!

I love the way the border randomly zig~zags.

So it is off to Terry Whitman so she can work her magic.

Should be ready for the Schnibbles Parade with Pink Pincushion on November 1!!

As I was taking down my 'Cattails' quilt I was loving the look of the back.

Terry also quilted this one for me.

Her work is amazing.

I just love the curly q's.

This quilt could easily be hung backwards as it is a work in itself!!

So it is onward and upward...

Martini quilt?

Winter wonderland??

Lilly Pilly tree??

Just have to decide my direction....oh.. the choices!!

Getting out the compass...
