Heart and Hands Quilt Retreat 2014

Don't get all excited about great quilt photos yet...

This is the first year that Terry Whitman and I have missed this retreat in about 7 years!!

I am not complaining.... I think Houston will be AMAZING!!

But I do want my cake AND eat it too!!

You become like family

 and

look forward each year to seeing everyone each year!!

We are going to miss Patrice, Carly, Marg and Ester in their dusters....

(especially those chocolate martinis, Ester!!)

Betty and Linda with all their adventures in 2014...

Dot, Peggy and Joanne and MISS Van de Woestyne!!

Heather...

Wondering if Joanne finished her Hoffman Challenge....

Laughing with Lori....

 Eileen...

and her twin, Elenor

See you all next year!!

While packing this morning, I found a little gift for me...

So true..so true...

I think Arnold is going to miss me!!

Don't be surprised to see this blog hijacked by Justin...

Otherwise...See you in November!

Scrap Squad 2013 Block Exchange

I am just a LITTLE behind in our exchange of blocks!!

Each month one of us got to pick what we would like for our blocks.

I have managed to catch up...ok.....I am one block behind!!

This one is for Becky Ball...she requested 'stars'....

This one is for Anne Wiens who wrote the Thrifty Quilter...

Anne asked for this block with the middle reflecting what each of us loved....catherdral windows!!!

And our leader of this wayward group, Marti Dyer who also is responsible for introducing me to Suzie's magic binding...
Asked for a school house block in reds

Now..... For Carol's block.....hmmm...something beachy.....maybe some appliqués flip flops??

Busy Days

I am happy to report that Pat Jones received her quilt....

She loved it!!

I still haven't had time to quilt...

Finished Justin's siding...

Usually Justin's kitties, Hank and Henry are dying for attention...
(pretty sure - she is a Henrietta)

But we must have bored them to death while working...

I am hoping this is the last time I see the top of a bin for the year...

We bypassed the old fashioned way of 'Cattle Driving'

and went with

this option!!!

We were done by 11:30am
and
I made it to Quilt Guild(click to see what was going on there) for 1/2 the day

The calves are at the sale today...

The moms are all mooing and mad....

The bulls are nestled in for the winter at Justin's

And the last of the straw has been hauled!!

You know I am sewing deprived

 when

I think the seeded rows look like great quilting designs!!

Got to start packing...

We leave for Quilt Festival in Houston on Saturday!!
(Squeel)

Happy Thanksgiving

We definitely have alot to be thankful for!!

A great Thanksgiving supper with grandson, Jaxon and all our kids....

Finishing bale hauling....

Dawson is pretty sure there was a mouse in that bale!!

My co-pilots are going to miss the good times riding in the truck...

Dawson, Timber and Duke

I am super thankful I noticed I was missing 6 lug nuts on the the truck..

Or I would have been witness my own tires passing me down the road...

Thankful I had the tools to fix it and finish the job....

Thankful that a hose was readily available to fix the antifreeze leak...

Thankful I have enough gumption to push through installing a storm door for Terry...

When the instructions went from page 3 to page 8....

Honestly,
any one who really knows me....

 knows I rarely read instuctions!!

Thankful that Justin and Arnold were willing to come and help....

Justin and Arnold

fix Terry's shingles...

even though I know they had other things they wanted to do!!

Terry and Justin

Good as new and ready for a rain!!

I am thankful that Shelby Love  for talked us
 into
booking flights to Houston for Quilt Festival...

logo

as I could really use the holiday right about now!!
(12 days till lift off!!)

Long weekends to most people mean rest and relaxation....

To a farmer,

it means winter is coming and we need to get everything done!!

I always feel like the ant in Aesop's story of The Ant and The Grasshopper!!

I think this ant is ready for winter!!
