Autumn Love Progress (part ii)

My favorite part of quilting is when things start coming together 

I have been loving the process of turned appliqué 

I just used fabric from my stash

I did have to buy orange.

That is just not a color I EVER buy!!

(shocking)

That's probably a good thing.... 

It's one color of fabric I can pass buy without purchasing

The Harvest corner blocks are beautiful!!

This quilt is nearly finished...

It always amazes me how you can get this ...

Out of a pile of this....

The end is in sight

And it always make me sad when I am nearly done.

It's like watching your favorite series on tv and when it's finished you feel lost!!

But there is another series on the horizon by @loriholts of #beeinmybonnet

It is called Farm Sweet Farm.

Can't wait!!

I am hoping to find it at Market in Houston this week!!

We are off to Market and Festival tomorrow!!

Where to Begin....Houston Quilt Festival

There is nothing like home but there is nothing like Houston either...

 

Four Block Party Guild members

Off to Houston...

 

 

Giddy would be putting it mildly....

 

With a couple of girls from Wapella and Whitewood,Sk

Sharon Armstrong, Terry Whitman, Sharon Baker, Christine Marcotte, Colleen Marcotte, Brenda Jones)
 

 

 A couple of Marcottes and only ONE Jones as we joked!!

To the heart of the 3rd biggest city in USA

 

2.5 million people....130 miles wide!!

 

 

We teased ourselved the first day by looking through the portholes

 

  into

 

 

 what we were going to experience the next day!!!

 

It was 40 years of celebration...

 

So red was the theme!!

 

Barb Vlack did a great presentation

 

on her version of 9 patches

 

in 40 different settings in red for her own Ruby anniversary!!

 

 

Incredible is a word your going to read often in these postings.

 

ALL the quilts were just that.....

 

There was an exhibit of mini quilts all in red

made

 by 2 sisters, Andrea Blackhurst and Ellen Carter

 

 

They were all 24"  or less...

but gives you an idea

 

of how spectaculer they were!!

 

Look at the little blocks in each house!!

 

Feathered stars...

 

TINY pinwheels

 

Storm at Sea....

 

 I have to do one!!

The workmanship on these little master pieces were just mind blowing!!

 

It was a stunning exhibit...

 

Such a tribute to traditional quilts...

Mini Quilts continued throughout the show.....

 

Diamond log cabin mini...

 

I had to buy this little mini Feathered Star pattern!!

 

The Houston Miniaturists exhibited some of their sewing related little rooms...

 

 

Look at those little cutting boards and bolts of fabric!!

 

The Circle of Quilts were quite the awe struck greeting!!

 

 

There was color every where you looked...

 

 

 

This looked like Zentangles to me!!

 

A wedding dress...

 

These Horses took my breath away

 

I don't think I would EVER live old enough to do something this spectacular

This was a thread painted quilt....

 

 

Pictures do not do this(or any) quilt justice...

 

 

It deserved the grand prize!!

That evening I spotted Missouri Star's Jenny Doan and husband....

 

 

We promised not to bother her during supper.....

 

 if she would take a photo with us later

 

She was kind enough to pull up a chair

 

 and

 

 her husband took pics for us!!

 

They were the nicest people.

 

 I know it was a long 2 weeks for them and she still took the time!!
