Fall Days

With harvest complete and most Fall work done,

Dawson has been catching up on her sleep....

I have been finding my way to my sewing room...

I started working on Cherry Sprinkles with Sweetwater fabric

If I read instructions....... it would be some much easier...

but since I only bought a jelly roll....

I have had to do some rearranging to make it work...

It will be a table runner for a friend

Now to quilt it!!

Project #2....

I cut all the pieces ahead of time to work on at Guild

I put them on my design board
and
Press and Sealed them

I didn't lose a single piece!!

It came together quickly

If this looks very similar to the runner.....

It is!!

I used the leftovers of the jelly roll!!

Show and Tell at Guild...

Charlene's hand quilted Tiles

Charlene's Hawaii project ready to quilt

Charlene was a busy girl...

Her completely hand sewn hexie quilt

Love it!!

Coffee Time

What can you do with a free morning???

Well....Start with one coffee sack from Hawaiii...

Arnold's cousin, Colinda was home from Hawaii this weekend.

She brought this with her...

asking if I could make her a bag with it

with these as a liner...

After some selective slicing...

and some Kraftex paper

It started to take shape

Added some vintage handles

I hope she likes it!!

If not...I can always get another sack when we go in January...

They always make more coffee.

She should be able to get a lot of farmer's market in this one!!

Herding Cats

Even though we are done harvest,

there is still no time to sew yet!!

A friend asked if I could help them with their harvest.

With a sweet ride like this....

You bet!!

This brand new Cat combine has heated seats, GPS, backup cameras...you name it!!

40' of cutting makes quick work of a field

The canola doesn't stand a chance....

With Justin running the grain cart

and the camera at the end of the auger I am sure to hit the mark!!

A couple more days....

these cats can have a winter nap!!

Just purring right along...

Back to school....

Or Quilting!!

Since it was finally raining...

We called an impromptu quilting day!!

SOME people did a bit of quilting during the summer!!

Terry did 'All Squared up'

This was destined to be something else...

But plans changed and Terry went with a strippy look

Lori tried Easy Cathedral Window tutorial by Missouri Star

Lori worked her magic on a Laura Heine pattern of the Truck

Lori did an incredible job of making her Old Red!!

I may have to give this a try one day....

On another note....

Colleen's granddaughter Olivia...

who is only TWELVE....

Made this Zentangled map of all the places her dad had been
as
a gift for him!!

What a fabulous job, Olivia!!

You are quite the artist!!

Great Weekend for a Road Trip

Can you believe we are in the 'BRRR' months??

SeptemBER,OctoBER, NovemBER, DecemBER!!

With harvest and haying complete...

We had 2 choices for the long weekend...

Stay home and work

OR

Hit the road!!

So it was off to our favorite places to go to...

Deadwood, South Dakota

Up in the misty clouds and pine trees!!

I love the historic homes

Especially the Adams House -

one of the founders in Deadwood

There are fabulous canyons to tour

We made a stop at Thunderhead Falls

One of the oldest gold mines in the area

Checked our Mt. Moriah Cemetery

It always amazes me how these trees are able
 to hang on
to life on the side of the mountain

Their root systems is amazing!!

A cute gourd garden on the terrace wall

We did a day trip to Rapid City
and
checked out a local farmers market

Melons

Heirloom tomatoes

Honey

Flowers

Eggplants

A couple of food trucks

We decided on a Smoked pork lunch

and a couple of fresh peaches

We tried our luck at some gambling

Arnold was drawn to have 14 seconds in the cash machine.

He managed to squeeze $52 through the little slot!

It was a great getway.

Sure beat staying home and working!
