May...Please Send Some Showers!

AGAIN...

 where is the time going!?!

Spring has definitely arrives slowly with still no moisture in sight.

But like true farmers we continue our process with HOPE.

Justin has been incubating chicks....

We finished seeding yesterday....

In the dust.....so I am going with 'the bins will bust'

I try to elevate my tractor lunches..

A mini charcuterie board menu...

Some flax crackers, Balderson cheese and grape tomotoes
with
a Perrier water!

Can't get higher end field food than that!

The potatoes are in...
the rest of the garden to follow later this week

In case you missed it....

Tula Pink Butterfly in Blue and Brown Batiks

Angela of @gypsysoulfabrics and I
 hosted
 a pop up shop
in
April on my farm!

We had time slots to try to space people out during the event.

Terry Whitman was in attendance
as
our local FABULOUS custom free motion Longarmer!

There were quilts hung on the lawn
for
a little eye candy!

Alaska Quilt by Laundry Basket Quilts

This is Lady of our Lakes free pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Co.
 using
Balinese Batiks I have started to carry.

Easy Peasy!

This was a free pattern by Border Creek Station of Ontario.

Every year she does a Stash buster.

This one is Eclectic Elements by Tim Holtz
and
a mottled wideback for the background.

I added Delectable Mountains as the border.

Three Dudes Quilt Pattern on Missouri Star Tutorials
 using
Royal Nights by Wilmington

We should be restocked this week with this one!

Some teasers using backings like the black as fronts!

This pattern is by Taralee Quiltery from Manitoba

Whispering Pines panel with yardage...

Just winged this one making the Delectable Mountains fit the panel!

Can't wait for July as this is supposed to be restocked then!

This quilt is Eidos by Modern Quilt Guild
using
all wideback fabric from Westrade Fabrics

I quilted it myself using Quilters Dream Wool doubled up
to
get alot of texture

The Batiks were a hit!

I have tried to carry enough color selection

in a range of tones

Like a crazy fool....

I just ordered a THIRD box of Batiks from Bali
and
hope to do another Facebook Live near the end of June.

With a pop up shop to follow!

I want to thank everyone for all their support!

I think I have it all posted to the website now
but
if you ever need a hand or have a question,

don't hesitate to message or email!

It was a lovely day for a drive
and
I think everyone really enjoyed a piece of some 'normalcy'

Maybe we will see you in June!

I'll keep you posted!

Happy New Year 2021

I have to say it just feels like March 2020 to me
but
the calendar says....

It can only get better from here right?

I am going with that on my vision board for 2021.

New Years resolutions??

I will try to blog more regularly.

This is the journal of my life
so
be pre-warned it's not ALWAYS about quilting.

Farming, quilting, great food, and travel....

I hope we can start doing the last part soon one day!

I can't tell you how much I am going to miss seeing an ocean this winter.
(insert sad face here)

On a good note....
the box from my sister FINALLY arrived.

A little beat up and about 53,000 air miles later!

The homemade vanilla and shooter size proseccos arrived in tack.

(which will be enjoyed regardless of size...)

The bottle of vanilla is worth more than the alcohol.

That vanilla bean is worth gold!!

At least the box would have smelled good!

I finished my Three Dudes quilt with the Royal nights Gem Strips.

They will be posted on Facebook today
if
your interested in doing a quilt with it!

I used darn near every inch if this package.

This is all that's left!

I love when there are no scraps left!!

I used the leftovers to do a scrappy border.....

No rhyme or reason!

I also am LOVING Peggy's idea
of
freezer paper(wax side down) on your ironing board!

I swear by blocks are so much flatter with hardly any steam!

That was a fast quilt
and
I love the end result!

I think it's the ocean colors....

Quadrants Quilt

I finally found some time to get to quilting

My 'Quadrants' quilt

It is the quilt I tested for Gudrun Erla
 for her new book
'Stripology Squared'

I tried quilting with my industrial machine

which I have come to the conclusion.....

it is TOO FAST

Yup....

you heard it here....

Too fast for free motion quilting!!

Now to get it bound!

I also made up some self binding receiving blankets.

Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a great tutorial on this easy gift

I used two Westrade wideback flannels from my recent order

It takes a 40"x 40" square
and
a 30" x 30" square.

With two Westrade widebacks,

you get 9 receiving blankets of alternating combinations

As an added little bonus,

I stitched a 'ps.I love you' tag into the seam

Quick and Easy!!

And speaking of Baby gifts....

Wouldn't this make an cute baby quilt??

Hmmmm...

I need more time in a day!!

Back to school....

Or Quilting!!

Since it was finally raining...

We called an impromptu quilting day!!

SOME people did a bit of quilting during the summer!!

Terry did 'All Squared up'

This was destined to be something else...

But plans changed and Terry went with a strippy look

Lori tried Easy Cathedral Window tutorial by Missouri Star

Lori worked her magic on a Laura Heine pattern of the Truck

Lori did an incredible job of making her Old Red!!

I may have to give this a try one day....

On another note....

Colleen's granddaughter Olivia...

who is only TWELVE....

Made this Zentangled map of all the places her dad had been
as
a gift for him!!

What a fabulous job, Olivia!!

You are quite the artist!!

A Good Day at Quilting

If you haven't checked out the free tutorials
 by
our friend, Jenny Doan of Missouri Quilt Co

Now would be a great time!!!
Jenny is a genius......

And

kind hearted enough to pose for a picture with us in Houston last year!!

I decided to try the Hunter Star

It called for 2 layer cakes

I only wanted a baby quilt so cut it down to 2 charm packs
(making it 1/4 the size)

Her technique was easy as pie!!

I used Oink a-Doodle -Moo

Even the trimmings are pretty!!

There were only 3 main blocks

and before you know it....

I had a baby quilt ready for Grand baby #2
(who is due in a couple weeks!!!)

At guild yesterday....

Terry brought some of her grandma's vintage embroidery

You just don't see hand work like these anymore

She is toying with quilting with her fabulous talents on her long arm

This is definitely a dying art...

Narrie made the CUTEST doll clothes for Christmas gifts

How sweet....

Vernelle was working on a  Bargello table top

Even the back was beautiful!!

There was a new addition to the family of Featherweights at quilting

Terry recently acquired her grandma's white singer

I think she should call her Milly after her g-ma!!

Even the box is cute!

With no room on Terry's table,

her black Featherweight went up for adoption!!

It NEARLY started a bidding war
but
in the end... went to Colleen!!
(a good home is important when it comes to adoption)

I think winter has arrived in our neck of the woods.

Let the sewing begin....
