Our travel agent had hired Panoramic Tours to show us the treasures of Bali
Our Guide was Wayan(first born) Sudiana
He was a fabulous host as was our driver, Diasa amd Rudi, who kept us hydrated and safe!
We hit the ground running....
We toured a batik store
These are a few of the stamps used in the process
This reminded me of one of our guild members....
she sews on a big Juki
The colors were fabulous.
Such eye candy but this was fabric for clothing
so
we were still on the hunt for quilting cotton
Tressa and Nicole Whitman and Aimee Brokenshire looked beautiful
in their new sarongs!
A few of the girls had their clothes they were wearing batiked with wax
It was a great souvenir!
The weather was super hot and humid.
If Charlene took off her sweater we all knew we were going to melt into to the pavement
as
she is never hot but she was plenty warm on this trip!
I went with the "Coke a Day" theory and I did not have any tummy trouble
It was a cheap remedy at 40,000 Rupiah or 4$!!
We saw lots of temples including the famous Temple on the Lake
It was an important Hindu celebration while we were there
It was like our Christmas
There was decoration everywhere!.
Many women carried high stacks of offerings to the temples
There were celebrations in the streets from temple to temple
Most of Bali is Hindi
but
there are a few Muslim communities and Mosques
They co-exist peacefully
Everything in Bali is very ornate
The talents of the carvers, weavers, stone masons is like nothing I have ever seen
We were in awe no matter where we looked!!
Christa
ps. catching on zzz
It looks so very different!!
ReplyDeleteIt’s like being back in time with one foot in the present. Just the weirdest thing!
DeleteI can't wait to see your food and fabric photos. On Instagram I noticed the batik with sled dogs. Too funny if it's made in Bali.
ReplyDeleteIsn’t that crazy?? Sled dogs and buffalos in Bali!! Stay tuned!
