Lady Of the Lake - Missouri Star Style

I hope everyone had a fabulous World Quilting Day!

I managed to finally get this quilt finished!

It is called Lady of the Lake.

This is one block

There are some beautiful batiks in the shop

I was torn as to which one to try...

This one was my first love!

Yup....blue always gets me!

But this was a close contender!

You can never go wrong with vibrant batiks
with
a good black!

Here is the link for this quilt....

It was super simple to make
but
you had to make a TON of HST's

Our guild has a set of Block Loc rulers

After using them,
ti decided to purchase a set for myself!!

30 Years of quilting...

I think I deserve some great tools..

Check out this video to see how easy and accurate these rulers are!

If you are looking for a set....

I stocked the shop!

Set #1
(1.5", 2.5", 3.5", 4.5", 5.5", 6.5")

Set #2
 (2.5", 4.5", 6.5")

and

6.5" x 6.5"

Check them out on my website if your interested in a set for yourself!

This quilt block has endless ways to lay them out!!

I tried quilt a few....

Each one was a unique design....

I took pictures each time to see if I liked it...

It was tough on the eyes after awhile!

It wasn't till I looked at the pics later,

that I could see some blocks were not flipped the right way!

Finally I decided I like this way best!

Now how to quilt this one!

Thanks, Missouri Star Quilt Co!

HER-Story

I have been helping Arnold's Aunt and Cousin organize a sewing room lately

I know...

I have no business helping some one else....

I should be addressing my own 'space'

That's an other day....

It has been fun

 to

see fabrics and finds through Arnold's cousin's eyes

as

she finds bits and pieces through virgin eyes.

A lot of ....why?? What is it?? What do I do with it?

Lots of Keep, Toss and Recycle.

We should have taken before and afters.

This is the grandma's machine that was turned from treadle to power way back when!!

We are going to see if we can shine her up

and

 take her for a spin!

The Featherweight Shop has almost any thing a girl needs to bring a Singer to life!

They also found old embroidered linens

 and dresser scarves

Even two pillowcases ready to be embroidered!

I can't believe these were never stitched out?!?!

The Master

And The Slave

WOW.....

We didn't chuck them because that is HISTORY.

How far have we come?

We as women even get to vote now!!

The corner square of this vintage fabric was found first.....

Then the vintage dress and later the clutch.

Arnold's Aunt said her mom had recovered the clutch to match the dress made for her.

We also got a peak at baptism gowns for her from 1945

She was twin so there were two and each came with a veil

The workmanship on this wool skirt was also incredible!

I love history or should I say...

Fresh Carrots, Anyone?

It's so much easier to sew them
than
grow them!

There are some beautiful orange batiks in my shipment from Bali

I was thinking 'pumpkins'

With Easter coming....

How about some carrots!

There are a few good videos on YouTube
like this one...

I folded the green in half and sewed to the top of the 'carrot' fabric

Next I folded the 'carrot' in half right sides together

I drew a line from the bottom of the green to the corner of the tip
(for the first one anyway)

I made sure to back stitch at the start and the end to ensure it didn't blow out when turned

They whipped up pretty quick!

Turn them rights side out and stuff them with batting scraps!

I didn't cut off the excess as it's just extra stuffing!

I tied the tops with a ribbon where the green met the orange
and
snipped the green to make 'tops'

Voila...

A bushelful of heirloom carrots!

60 Best Blogs and Influencers of 2021

Sooooo....

I was searching the 'web' yesterday

 for

one of my older blog posts

I really need to get better at tagging and labeling

( like I know what I am doing)

When all of a sudden this link came up....

Top 60 Canada Quilting Blogs, Websites & Influencers in 2021

Those are some pretty big shoes to fill since it's only MARCH!!

I wondered why it came up in my search

THEN

I spied my picture in the write up!

Apparently, I am #19 on the list of 60!

I laughed...at first.

But after looking at the other suggested bloggers,

I was surprised as some of them are peeps I follow!

Now you are in the loop...An influencer!!

Who knew?!?! I sure didn't!

I hope it's in the best ways....

Not the blind leading the blind!!

You can check it out Here

Anyways, back to MY real world....

I just got in these blenders in 44" yardage

Pictures can not capture the sparkles in these

They are so pretty!

Available in 1 yard, 1/2 yard and Fat Quarter bundles!

They are posted to the website

I was washing eggs and placing in the carton

My chickens need to work on their quality control....

I thought this just about sums up my life these days.

Every shape and size....

But on the other hand...

Life gives you choices...

a little hungry or very hungry??

You pick!

Charlie got a new momma and is doing fabulous.

But we have a new bottle babe.

Coco

His mom passed away so he has been bottled from the start.

He would only drink between your legs.

Wanted to feel like it was the real thing I guess.

He's doing very well!

Even Dawson was loving him!

Now if I can get out there
and
 INFLUENCE a few more cows
 to
get calving we would be done already!!

lol
