Stars in the Valley....Batik Style!

When someone asks me what my favorite pattern to do is...

This is the one.

Stars in the Valley

by

Border Creek Station

They are Canadian too!

This quilt was in a magazine years ago.

I pulled out the pattern just in case.

I needed a quick quilt and gave this one a try!

I have done it in Reds and in blacks and greys.

After Unboxing 4.0 of the Bali Batiks,

I thought how #20 would look pretty cool in this quilt!

This pattern has you make the components...

The quick way to make HST's

 and Flying geese!

Square in a square...

Putting the blocks together is fast once all the pieces are assembled!

This pattern makes a large quilt so I only did half the size!

The pattern size called for 13 blocks and I only made 8

I got it on the long arm....

Started to play!

I used my extra pieces to make a simple border

I always panic as to what to put on my quilts....

But really after it is gifted and loved....

Does it really matter???

Now I am really thinking about the possibilities with this pattern!

Let's see what these fabrics can do in this quilt!

I always say...

Let the fabric do the work!

Geese in the Cabin Quilt

The first time I saw this pattern I  knew I needed to do it!

The pattern said you required the Creative grids ruler that goes with it

Of course......

 I didn't have it.

So I literally winged it...

I used some of the Bali Batiks I brought in from Unboxing 2.0

Those purples were so gorgeous!

I  knew I wanted to use this Million Suns wideback
by
P&B fabrics.

It is incredibly beautiful!

I like square quilts but wanted it a little bigger

I did a bouncing border insert.

Quilted it myself...

Just allowing myself to have fun and not over think it!

After all, it's only fabric and they make more!! lol

I may just have to make this one again some day
to
try out other layouts!

I find myself leaving a lot more blank canvas
 to
play with my quilting these days!

It's one of favorite quilts.....

At least till the next one comes hot off the press!

Lady Of the Lake - Missouri Star Style

I hope everyone had a fabulous World Quilting Day!

I managed to finally get this quilt finished!

It is called Lady of the Lake.

This is one block

There are some beautiful batiks in the shop

I was torn as to which one to try...

This one was my first love!

Yup....blue always gets me!

But this was a close contender!

You can never go wrong with vibrant batiks
with
a good black!

Here is the link for this quilt....

It was super simple to make
but
you had to make a TON of HST's

Our guild has a set of Block Loc rulers

After using them,
ti decided to purchase a set for myself!!

30 Years of quilting...

I think I deserve some great tools..

Check out this video to see how easy and accurate these rulers are!

If you are looking for a set....

I stocked the shop!

Set #1
(1.5", 2.5", 3.5", 4.5", 5.5", 6.5")

Set #2
 (2.5", 4.5", 6.5")

and

6.5" x 6.5"

Check them out on my website if your interested in a set for yourself!

This quilt block has endless ways to lay them out!!

I tried quilt a few....

Each one was a unique design....

I took pictures each time to see if I liked it...

It was tough on the eyes after awhile!

It wasn't till I looked at the pics later,

that I could see some blocks were not flipped the right way!

Finally I decided I like this way best!

Now how to quilt this one!

Thanks, Missouri Star Quilt Co!
