When a Farmer Gets Covid

I have tried to avoid too much Covid talk in my blog.

2 years and still going....When will it ends?

But this story hits so close to home.

Back in early December,

our friends of 35 years came down with Covid.

Terry and Gary were pretty sick.

But Gary's brother, Darrell was super sick.

He ended up on a ventilator and dialysis for 21 days in Saskatoon, Sk.

On December 21, 2021 he was taken off

and

passed away to be reunited with his parents in Heaven.

Darrell was 61 years old.

He loved animals.

He had a HUGE herd of cows.

He could never stand to sell his cows as he loved them all.

When ever there is work to be done around a farm that is a big job...

Like tinning Justin's barn.....

Incredibly....

Farmer neighbors show up out of the blue to make quick work of the job.

This was our community's reaction to Darrell's passing.

Over 20 people showed up to help organize the cows at Darrells farm.

Farmers brought portable corrals and panels to make corrals.

The Vet came and checked all the cows so the open ones could be sold.

Semis were lined up to haul.

Calves and open cows were sorted, loaded and sold.

These farmers made quick work of dealing with over 300 cows that day.

Coffee, Donuts, drinks and food showed up to feed everyone.

There are still 230 cows to calve.

That's alot for one man.

Now Gary can decide where the ranch will go from here.

In the coming days after,

many farmers started hauling Gary and Darrell's grain for them.

All the hay and straw was hauled into the yard in less than a week.

It is heartwarming to see that even in this day and age of huge farmers,

Most are still willing to help when they see a need

Today is Darrell's funeral.

It was also his dad's birthday so it was a fitting day.

He will be missed.

Arnold, Gary, Darrell and Brad
had
a lot of good times golfing and playing cards over the past 35 years.

Till we meet up, Darrell.

Rest in Peace

The Marcottes
