Perfect Tension Quilt Shop

I have to admit that we were over entertained at Retreat this year!

We had THREE vendors!!

 Angela of Gypsy Soul Fabrics
and
Taja of Add-a-metre Pop up shops
are
 both from Estevan, Sk.

Dan of Perfect Tension from Esterhazy, Sk
was
our guest speaker on Saturday afternoon!!

I had the pleasure of meeting him when I purchased a long arm from him.

I found him to be such a wealth of knowledge!

I asked him to come speak on what every he wanted!!

He hit many topics but his hand dyes got the most ooohs and aaaahs!!

We are definitely going to need to have a class in the summer making these!!

His colours were so vibrant!

Everyone said you can't cut that up!!

You can if you know how to make more!!

He spoke about long arm tips and tricks.

This was one of his pieces...

He also brought tools of the trade for purchase
so
we all had handfuls of treats!!

It was very interesting.

Thank you, Dan!!

Spending My Kids Inheritance...

It has been one crazy week!!
Last Saturday, we went on a road trip to Esterhazy.

My friend, Terry, Arnold and I.

It was a wet and rainy weekend
so
it was a great day to go get my new-to-me long arm!!

Our destination was Perfect Tension Quilt Shop

Dan and Joyce Karau have such a hidden gem near the town of Esterhazy!

I had met Dan two years ago at the Carlyle Quilt Show.

I loved his hand dyes.

I met up with them again a few weeks ago at the Artisans Tea at Kenossee Lake.

He was looking to sell his Pfaff 8/18.

I was interested but had to think about it.

Give me a week in the combine....

and before you know it...

I knew this was going to be the right machine for me.

Dan showed us all his fine work he had done with it.

We were so intrigued to see all their creativity.

We definitely had similar taste in quilts!!

Dan was a wealth of knowledge.

We wasted a good 2 hours of his time
as
he kept on introducing us to things like the app for One Block Wonders

like this one made of this fabric....

Terry and I were sucking in all the info he was willing to part with!
He shared everything from his favorite marking tools
to
ink tense pencils.

We finally told him not to open another drawer!!
We already have too many hobbies!!

Of course, I had to purchase some fabrics.

I had room.

I brought the trailer!!

It was a full circle trip for me
as
I went with Terry to check out her first Long Arm 14 years ago
and
she wasalong for the ride with me for mine!!

I will NEVER be as good as Terry
and
only plan to do playing on my own!

On the way home,

we stopped for lunch at Archibalds in Whitewood,Sk
to
meet with some fellow quilters for lunch.

We arrived home just in time
 as
my sister and niece came for a week visit.

Larissa does not sew so I did not want to burden her with my excitement.

I was chomping on the bit...

I kept sneaking upstairs between combining and visiting to get this party started!!

I started dismantling one of my spare rooms...

to make room for...

hmmm....

she doesn't have a name yet...

It was just the right size!!

We played out a cat....

and a kid!!

Larissa and Breanna went home today.

Enjoyed the visit but all my friends were asking if I had started her engine yet!!

I plugged this girl in and got straight to work!

My first sacrificial lamb....

are these poor reindeer.

I figure Christmas is coming...

Might as well give them a go!!

Nothing fabulous but it will only get better!!

Thank you to Arnold and Terry for the fun road trip!!

We hadn't done that for so long!!

Loved it!

Thank you to Dan for all the time we took!!

We definitely need to have them come teach us a class on anything!!

You know where you can find me...

On my second story!!
