On my Horizon

I think you can make ANY thing with Kate Spain's Horizon....
(or any of her other lines!!)

and
 it would be fabulous...

After Terry Whitman has finished her magic quilting it.....

I have a heck of a time giving it away...

Even though I made this for someone in mind....

I think this is going to have to live with me for awhile longer....

At least till I can make myself one!!

'Lost City'

This pattern is can be found on HERE

Quite the Surprise

These sneaky kids....

Jeremy, Chantel and Justin

They took Arnold and I out for supper

last night

for our 30th anniversary

It's early as it's not till February 2

Was fun and much appreciated.

Good byes were said and off we were....

TO THE LEGION!!

Where they had organized a surprise!!

All our friends were waiting....

They prepared a huge spread of food....

If anyone was wondering about those brownies..

They were topped with candied Bacon
and
a sprinkle of cayenne.

A little Iron Chefing on Justin's part...

They presented us with a print from Yvette Moore

'It's Hard Work Hauling Hay to the Herfords'

Very fitting as it's a glimmer into our day to day life!!

Every one signed a charm square with best wishes

Thank you for a great evening!!
We didn't have a clue!!

xxooxx

Home....

I love to travel
(OBVIOUSLY)

But there is just something about coming home.....your own country....

And even nicer is your own house!!!!

It's a lot whiter than this...
But it's still pretty nice to have a place to come and recharge and reflect about what you loved about vacation...and how to incorporate that into your day to day life...

Like taking the time to take in a sunset more often...

However...the day to day stuff like washing clothes can be come hazardous!!

I spent 14 days on water...

And by water....

And managed to keep my phone dry...but came home and chucked it into the washer for a full cycle!!

So if you don't hear from me it's because I have lost your number!!

Must be vacation brain....

Today I am going to try to ease into it a little slower....

I got my quilt back from Terry Whitman.....maybe I'll bind it today ....

Text me....

Good Bye Palm Trees....Hello Reality!!

Well...today is our last day....this is my peaceful spot to blog at looking and listening to the ocean...

I am going to miss these two tall Palm trees and the roar of the water washing on to shore...

Joy and I can attest to this photo... Don't get me wrong....

my butt was and is not this cute but I know what this feels like!!

We got our fair share of sand in our gussets while trying to get out of the ocean and were attacked by rolling waves...

Give a whole new meaning to 'sandbox'!!!!

At one beach we rented the last chair so we learned to make sand sofas with pretty good lumbar support.  Sure beat the chairs on the plane!!

When we went to rent the a chair yesterday at the same beach the guy said we don't rent chairs.

I said yes you do...we had it yesterday.... Then another guy stood up and said...oh...I have been renting Todds chair for 5 bucks a day!! So we rented Todds chair again.  I asked him if he had anything else he wanted to rent of his own!!

When we were done at the beach I told them they could charge 10 bucks for our sand sofas if they wanted to!!

More lounging area than a beach chair!!

We saw so many whales breaching from our recliners yesterday! It was an awesome show of nature!!

Took some time to watch this little character as he gobbled up crumbles here and there in the square...

Looks like Woody Woodpecker...

Sent the guys to the whalers Museum since we had already done it when they went to the PGA tournament ...

This compass could have come in handy for Arnold earlier.  He had no sense of direction while here so he downloaded a compass on his phone to see where we were at each day!!

Sunday was for old car shows here too!!

I often wonder the journey that these cars had to take to get here...

Very impressive show...

This one would be great to handle on the road to Hana...

Ate the last of our pineapples from our tour...

Now it's OGG...LAX....YVR......YQR.....and home!

Pineapples to Sunsets

We stopped in at the glass blowers again to see what they were making....

This turtle is fabulous!!!

We got to watch the very beginnings of how they make their creations...

These guys were a team...

I can't imagine the heat as it was super hot from our vantage point!!!

Layer upon layer of molten glass and color was added...

Shaped and formed...

And the end result wold be this beautiful vase...

Then it was over to the pineapple plantation..

Where Brett, our tour guide informed us on pineapple farming..

Starts off the same with summer fallow and pre work...

Planting and irrigation...

Before you know it....like a YEAR later  a baby starts to form...the big one in this picture is an overachiever pineapple....same age as the little ones but way bigger!!!

Each plant only grows one pineapple each year...

These are Maui gold pineapples...

They are super sweet..

Brett was suave with a machete as he prepared

And sacrificed pineapples for us to try..

Then we each picked one and Brett prepared ours..

 Like corn on a cob...

We had our fair share of pineapple!!!

Then it was over to the factory to see how they were packed and shipped...

80 percent stay in Hawaii  and 20 percent to mainland...

Each of us were given a packed pineapple to take home... But we have to eat it before leaving since we can't take it across the border!

There was some big containers of pineapple vodka being stored here from the distillery across the street!!!

Lunch was at the food truck was saw the day before!! They have only been going for 3 weeks!!!

And it came with its own clean up crew...

We were in Kihei to catch our first sunset on the water..

Going....

Going...

Gone!!! Going to try to catch it again tonight!!! Pretty cool!!

Didn't see the green flash though!!!

Aloha
