Quilter's Haven Chirstmas Challenge

Quilter's Haven Quilt Shop  in Moose Jaw, Sk

hosts a challenge each year.

This is my third time entering.

I have won on my other two entries so let's try it again!

BUT....When I opened this years fabrics!!!

Yikes...

one is definitely Christmas but the other is SOOO Halloween to me!!

I took a class at the Minot Quilt Show on using some rulers called Polygon rulers.

It was a class on how to sew Y seams.

These rulers can help you cut out Hexagons, pyramids, and diamonds
from
strips of fabric.

They do work pretty slick!

Thought it was a perfect reason to try it again...

I have a mini and regular so I used the mini one.

Just playing around with 60 degree diamonds.

You could add two fabric and keep it under 150" perimeter.

I doubt it's a winner but I feel like one....

It's done before the deadline!

I LOOOVE Susie's magic binding...

Gives it that flanged look with ease!

Happy Halloween/Christmas!

Spring Fever Progress

This is my second Jacqueline de Jong Quilt

This one is called Spring Fever.

My fabric inspiration was the swirls.

I found some amazing Bohemian Rhapsody Fabric by Quilting Treasures

We are sooooo lucky to have Pleasant Pheasant Fabrics in Crosby, North Dakota.
(my husband wouldn't say lucky...)

When I am feeling super inspired by fabric I can't wait to get going.

It is paper pieced and I worked on all the components through the summer.

Now it's been time to play with layout....

When I liked what I saw I sewed the center

Added the next rounds....

And now I am at a stand still again...

I can't decide if I should go with white as the next round?

Maybe a purply-blue batik??

Oh...the decisions....

Anyone have an answer??

Where Have I Been??

I am not sure where all the weeks went to....

Well... actually I do...

We went like crazy fools to get Justin's first crop off.

The weather has been nothing but rain for weeks now.

We saw a window of two days

and

we went hard with some friends help for extra man power!!

Thank goodness we did.

It's in the bin...

DRY and NOT SPROUTED!!

Can't thank our friends enough for lending a hand!

Two pastures of cows are home.

One more pasture to go.

So in between those events I have tried to sneak in some longarming!!

Nothing fabulous

but I am loving that I am getting some quilts done

They did not warrant a professional job
and
I have no guilt playing around on them!

I can see that getting to binding these is going to be my next problem!!

Do they make a machine for that???

I have been doodling on paper in the evenings...

Hoping it will translate on fabric when I attack each quilt!

This one is called Winter Joy by Border Creek Station.

I could not give this quilt to a Long armer
as
I did not know there was a correction in the pattern.

So it's pretty wonky since I just MADE it work.

The background is Tim Holtz fabric which is like silky cotton.

I used a flannel on the back
 and
the lightest loft Quilter's Dream poly to keep it lighter.

The last few days have definitely been cozy quilt weather!

Happy Turkey Day to Canada!!

Eat turkey and have fun with friends and family!!
