Quilter's Haven Chirstmas Challenge

Quilter's Haven Quilt Shop  in Moose Jaw, Sk

hosts a challenge each year.

This is my third time entering.

I have won on my other two entries so let's try it again!

BUT....When I opened this years fabrics!!!

Yikes...

one is definitely Christmas but the other is SOOO Halloween to me!!

I took a class at the Minot Quilt Show on using some rulers called Polygon rulers.

It was a class on how to sew Y seams.

These rulers can help you cut out Hexagons, pyramids, and diamonds
from
strips of fabric.

They do work pretty slick!

Thought it was a perfect reason to try it again...

I have a mini and regular so I used the mini one.

Just playing around with 60 degree diamonds.

You could add two fabric and keep it under 150" perimeter.

I doubt it's a winner but I feel like one....

It's done before the deadline!

I LOOOVE Susie's magic binding...

Gives it that flanged look with ease!

Happy Halloween/Christmas!

An Early Christmas Gift

Oh...to be so flexible
as
to be able to melt out of your skidoo suit like Justin can!!

Not possible for me but my body feels like that looks after a day of moving grain!!

Thank goodness for a grain vac!!

I just envision myself on ship in the Carribean looking through the porthole.....

which will be for REAL in only a couple of weeks!!

WARMTH......

Unlike today.... a very blustery cold day!!

I see even the Engineer needed to stop

for coffee to warm up at the crossing in Torquay!!

He barely fit between the two crossings of highway by town!!

You don't see that every day!!

Engineer returning from coffee

It was a heartwarming surprise when I got my mail today!!

Remember this 'challenge' fabric......

That I made my rendition of a Twister Christmas Tree???

Well, it returned home just in time for Christmas....

With a little something extra!!

I won 2nd prize in the Challenge with Quilter's Haven in Moose Jaw,Sask.

What a nice early Christmas gift!!

Thank you to Arlyce and Heather at Quilter's Haven!!

If you haven't checked it out yet...

head over to our Guild Blog to see what fun we had at our Christmas Party last week!!

Great gifts were exchanged by all!!

It's Guild tomorrow!

Quilter's Haven Christmas Challenge

Quilter's Haven in Moose Jaw, SK
 is
having a Christmas Challenge this month

This is the fabric that was in the bag...now what to make??

It had to incorporate a 9 patch, 2 flying geese and 3 HST's

I had tried the Itsy Bitsy Twister Ruler at Retreat

I wondered what a Christmas tree might look like....

I did a ROUGH sketch hoping it might work....

Started sewing and cutting and sewing again....

And before you know it.... I was liking the result!!

Here is my finished project which is in the mail as we speak....

The presents in the corners are my required components...

I made mine before going to Vegas so I was quite suprised to see this one at the shophop!!

Let's just say that my tree is considerable more PRIMITIVE!!

Oprah in the Spring...oh..I mean...Winter

It was a packed house...

14,400 women and 100 men!!

At least that's about all I saw for men.

Even the men's bathroom was taken over....

I like how the icon shows a man changing the baby!!

A man came in dazed because his bathroom was filled with women...

We said he could pee...we won't look..Promise!!

The urinals were open....

but in the end we let him go first in one of the stalls...

After all it was the MEN'S room!!!

It was a girl's night and unbelievable to be seeing her in Saskatoon

when I tried for 25 years to go to Chicago.

Christa, Tracey, Maryann
Oprah talked about trusting your instincts.

Luck is nothing more than preparation meeting opportunity.

Follow that common thread that weaves through your life.

It won't steer you wrong!!

I came to the conclusion that I have been raised well by my parents and Oprah!!

While in Saskatoon,

we took the time to stop in at Periwinkle Quilt Store

This was Tracey's favorite quilt in Saltwater fabric.

There was lots of inspiration...

a baby corner...

I was even able to resist my weakness...

Laurel Birch anything!!

Saturday Sampler Blocks....

Then it was down to Moose Jaw where we stopped at the Stitcher's Nook.

Buttons galore!!

Vintage tattings of cats.....

and butterflies.

Over to the Quilter's Haven...

where there was a full wall of Quilt Shows to attend this summer!!

Heather's Quilting Palette.....

Oh...the imagination that Heather has....

Each piece was so lifelike....

Her rendition of wheat is incredible!!

The Quilter's Haven and Heather's Quilting Palette

will be two of the vendors at our Quilt Show on June 29 & 30th, 2013.

At The Quilt Patch.....

we got a sneak peak of their second line of fabric that just arrived!!

Thanks to Oprah,Tracey and Maryann for a great experience!!
