Easy Street Mystery Quilt

This quilt was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery on the Quiltville Blog this winter.

It was based on these Lowe's paint chips...

These are not colors I would ever put together...

But individually I love each of them!!

I finished this quilt sometime ago but finally got it to Terry.

She is ALWAYS busy so I hate to burden her with my quilts.

But with the our quilt show coming up on June 29th and 30th, 2013....

I sent it her way

 and

she got it done in a blink of an eye....

so I could bind it before going to NYC on Saturday!!

This picture looks very washed out so you will have to come see it in person at the show!!

It is not my favorite and probably my LAST mystery quilt EVER.

Terry did another incredible job of all over quilting.

I felt this quilt was too busy with no definition so just an all over pattern was all it needed.

I did manage to whip up a label... my 2013 New Year's resolution...

To label all my quilts from now on!!

While trying to get ready for the show,

I am amazed at how I don't know what year my unlabeled quilts are.

This year's show consists of quilts that have been made since our last show 2 years ago.

I think you will be amazed with our show as there are only 10 of us in our guild.

We are having some guest appearance quilts

 by

The Wednesday Girls of Estevan

and

some honorary ghost members like Heather Piermantier.

Our Feature Quilter will be Irene Roy of Estevan,SK.

You will definitely not want to miss this incredibly talented lady!!

Mark your calendars!!

Has Anyone Seen the Sun?

The frost may be beautiful but I sure am missing the sun!!

I have always claimed to be a solar powered chick and my batteries are definitely running low!!
It was a good day to be at the church quilting yesterday
 and
dreaming the sun was shining through the stain glass windows!!

I have finished my Bonnie Hunter Mystery, Easy Street.

My two "Vanna's" holding this up said it looked like stain glass from their side.

I can not seem to get a good picture of this quilt.

The b/w fabric seem to make it blurry.

I don't think I will do a mystery quilt again as I am disappointed in the end result.

Tracey's picture of my quilt on The Block Party Blog is probably about as good as it gets!

She has some great pictures from our retreat, too.

Maybe I need some distance from this one for awhile!

I started the second project for the Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad.

I was feeling like I have recently done my share of bright/colorful quilts so I decided to use this layer cake of Kasuri for project 2.

I pumped out 160 of the 208 paper pieced blocks needed.

When I got home,

I received an email to halt the process as this was the wrong quilt for the next project!!

I guess I have a good start on this for down the road!

I didn't realize that I had been going down the path of blues and browns again anyways!

So I will think 'color' again for the next Scrap Squad quilt.

Maybe something in  yellows....make my own sun!!

Easy Street Mystery

Colleen Marcotte and I decided to try....

and I do mean...TRY

to participate in Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street Mystery Quilt.

We make no promises here as we are already behind!

I think we are intrigued by her Lowe's paint chip colors.

Apparently so are many others as Lowe's has been out of these chips all over North America!!!

Most people start with Part 1 but we are still waiting for our fabric for that part!!

Come on,Mr. Postman!!!

Colleen and I are swapping what fabrics we have for this quilt.

It calls for blacks on white.....

I handed Colleen my strips and she gives me the cutest little jelly roll!!

Just proves that presentation is everything.

I don't even want to cut into that.... it's so cute!!

I am starting with Part 2 since I am the queen of everything purple!!

I want to keep it less psychedelic so I am using only 3 choice of purple.

I managed to pump out 50 today.....

only 78 more purple flying geese to go!!

We will see just how 'EASY' this street is.....

My Red Paperclip Morning

Well... it was actually a blue paperclip....

Which I traded for this little number.

My freind was going to reset a furnace and pulled out this little pin and I gasped!!

So I explained how someone had stitched this tiny work of art!!

So I traded it for a paperclip.

Will this trade be my RED PAPERCLIP??

The saga continues......

So it was a day at Western Canadian Agribition in Regina,Sk for Arnold, Justin and I
.
From Horse Pulling Events.....

  Old grain cleaning machines...

I could really use one of these....

The guy said it was slow but I said I have more time than money!!

There were some pimped out MacDon swathers and all the lastest in livestock equipment.

I have an artic cat quad (my hired hand) which I can't live without

BUT....

can you imagine the looks on the cows faces if I showed up with this thing!!

That would put a whole new meaning to 'I like to Move it, Move it!'

Arnold and Justin weren't as impressed as I was.

I actually think I saw fear in their eyes for the fun in mine.

Mom... you need to show Dad this 'cat' and you both could hit the desert!

Dad can ride shotgun!!

These little tykes were so good.

Even Justin commented on how well mannered they were.

Then it was a stop by Shelby Love's for a drive-by drop off and some more cookies.

Happy Birthday to Shelby today!!!

This was hanging in Shelby's entrance. It reminds me of my Fabric Fusion quilt.

Just love the colors.

It was made by a Love family member.

Then a quick stop at Lowe's to gather some paint chips....

for Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt which starts tomorrow.

As usual...

 RAIN in November

Which then turned to snow for a nice and treacherous drive home!

Is there any other way to complete an adventure in Saskatchewan??

Home safe,

Christa

ps. Thanks, Shelby for the offer of a room for the night!!
With every room booked in Regina, you could have asked a premium!!!
