A Day of Fabric and Friends



Yesterday I had the honor of helping Tamra

 

of The Pleasant Pheasant Fabrics

 

 choose new lines for her Fall order

 

 

Oh...the possiblities!!

 



 

For a moment I thought I was back at Houston Quilt Market!!



 

 

I know what I like but tried to keep all of my quilty friends tastes in mind.

 

 

Tracey? Colleen?? Any of these??

 



I loved these striped batiks...

So that was a super fun morning.....

 

 The afternoon was spent with the Heart and Hand Guild

 



 

One of their members, Irene Roy

 

 is embarking on a new adventure as she moves to Saskatoon in September

 

 

Irene is an incredible quilter

and

 any guild that she joins will only benefit from her wealth of knowledge

 

She has made not ONE but SIX of these scrap apple quilts!!

 

She has dabbled in so many artistic ventures and is amazing at them all

 

At 87 years young,

 we teased her about how 80 is the new 50!!

 

Irene's presence will be missed but not forgotten

 

I know our paths will cross again... quilters travel!!

 

Their guild did a challenge due for the Fall and Irene has already finished her!!

 



 

 

Good tidings on your voyage to a new city.

 

I can only imagine the fun your going to have.

 

Thank you for your influence ~ you make us all want to be better quilters!!

 

Till then...

 

I am off to repair a tractor.... what we quilters won't do to keep our stash up!!

2013 Block Party Quilt Show... Day 1

Day 1...

 

 was a great success at our quilt show once again!!

 

Today is Day 2 and will be running from 12- 4pm.

 

Unfortunately...

 

 our feature quilter, Irene Roy was not feeling well and couldn't be present.

 

 

This is just a few pictures of her accomplishments throughout the years.

 

 

Irene has such amazing talents in all genres of creativity...

 

 

We wish her a speedy recovery and thank her for her display of inspiration!!

We have 10 women in our guild and have 5 guest quilters in our show



 

This show contains all new quilts from the last 3 years of our work....

 

 

There are a total of 243 pieces hanging in this years show!!!

 

 

It is an incredible show of the creativity

and

inspiration from a small group of quilting women.

 

This is just a glimmer of what there is to see!!

 

We have 3 vendors this year...

You know it's a good show when one vendor is purchasing from the other!!

 

 

 

I purchased some Canada Stonehenge fabric.....

 

Only fitting for Canada Day tomorrow!!

Easy Street Mystery Quilt

This quilt was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery on the Quiltville Blog this winter.

 

It was based on these Lowe's paint chips...

 

 

These are not colors I would ever put together...

 

But individually I love each of them!!

 

I finished this quilt sometime ago but finally got it to Terry.

 

She is ALWAYS busy so I hate to burden her with my quilts.

 

But with the our quilt show coming up on June 29th and 30th, 2013....

 

 

I sent it her way

 

 and

 

she got it done in a blink of an eye....

 

 so I could bind it before going to NYC on Saturday!!

 

 This picture looks very washed out so you will have to come see it in person at the show!! 

 

It is not my favorite and probably my LAST mystery quilt EVER.

 

 

Terry did another incredible job of all over quilting.

 

I felt this quilt was too busy with no definition so just an all over pattern was all it needed.

 

I did manage to whip up a label... my 2013 New Year's resolution...

 

To label all my quilts from now on!!

 

 

While trying to get ready for the show,

I am amazed at how I don't know what year my unlabeled quilts are.

 

 

 

This year's show consists of quilts that have been made since our last show 2 years ago.

 

 

I think you will be amazed with our show as there are only 10 of us in our guild.
 

 

We are having some guest appearance quilts

The Wednesday Girls of Estevan

 

and

 

 some honorary ghost members like Heather Piermantier.

Our Feature Quilter will be Irene Roy of Estevan,SK.

You will definitely not want to miss this incredibly talented lady!!
