Geese in the Cabin Quilt

The first time I saw this pattern I  knew I needed to do it!

The pattern said you required the Creative grids ruler that goes with it

Of course......

 I didn't have it.

So I literally winged it...

I used some of the Bali Batiks I brought in from Unboxing 2.0

Those purples were so gorgeous!

I  knew I wanted to use this Million Suns wideback
by
P&B fabrics.

It is incredibly beautiful!

I like square quilts but wanted it a little bigger

I did a bouncing border insert.

Quilted it myself...

Just allowing myself to have fun and not over think it!

After all, it's only fabric and they make more!! lol

I may just have to make this one again some day
to
try out other layouts!

I find myself leaving a lot more blank canvas
 to
play with my quilting these days!

It's one of favorite quilts.....

At least till the next one comes hot off the press!

Spring Was in the Air

We were all loving the weather

but

we were also pretty worried about putting a crop into such dry conditions

This said it so well!!!

It was great to get some snow this week.

I was cleaning off the roof before it slid off and took out some dogs

Love my action shot?

Justin came out to help as this snow was so heavy!

Some one thinks Spring never let...

Sandals and socks...

It's a look :)

It was a nice surprise when all my backorders finally arrived!

But the package I was most excited about
 was
my second box of batiks from Bali!!

Fabulous colors!

And the jelly rolls were beautiful too!

I hope you enjoyed the FaceBook Live

It is nothing with out viewers!!

We really appreciated you joining us!

If you missed it.... you can click the link here

It nearly had to be cancelled as my Camera man - Justin was testing bulls for a friend
and
with the storm, he made it home with only minutes to spare!

That or my husband, Arnold would have had a crash course on FB Live!

It's usually a circus around this farm
and
of course... the cat and dog made their cameo that night!

Hope it was not too distracting!

Justin did a fabulous job with answering questions
and
doing closeup ups for all the requests!

I can't thank everyone enough  for their support!

We really felt the love!

I just might have to order a THIRD box!

It was pretty fun!

We are hosting a pop up shop on Saturday, April 24th

on the farm
with
Gypsy Soul Fabrics and Terry Whitman(long armer)

It will be 1- 4 pm.

We want to keep everyone safe and socially distanced
so
we ask that you call, email or text for a time slot for that day!

We have missed seeing people!

All the orders have been packaged up from our Live Sale!

One quilter asked to have her purchase matched up with some fabrics.

Which then inspired me
to
try this pattern with some of these beautiful purple batiks

Geese in the Cabin by Creative Grids

I got busy cutting...

I followed the instructions....

I know.. Me...right??

Pulled the yardage for each cut.....

I was impressed with the amount of fabric left after finishing!

Not too much or too little left!

Enough if I make a  mistake....maybe two!

I tried two blocks to see if I am going to like it....

Lots of possibilities for layout!

I think it's a go!!

Spring can arrive now...

How to Build A Log Cabin.....

.....Quilt that is!!

You take one door prize of fabric from a friend...

Thank you to Pineapple Fabrics for this door prize from Minot!!

Use the ruler and book from Marti Mitchell
 that
you have owned for 1 1/2 years now....

And start chopping this wood up.....

I wanted to use all the fabric from this grouping.

I used the yardage  to make the log cabins...

The charm squares for the offset flying geese...

I added random browns from my stash
 to
make 2 REALLY large Log cabin blocks

Which I cut in half for each corner....

There was no pattern...

just building as I went...

Trying new techniques.....

That included when it came to the quilting...

I recently watched some videos by Angela Walter
and
how to use her rulers by Creative Grids

This is Slim....

and Archie!!

Keep in mind I do not have the right foot for using these...YET!

But I used them as a guide line for now...

Tried some pebbling...

Templates...

Stippling...

You name it....

I tried it all as this is the only way a person learns....

I am definitely in Kindergarten!!

D- ....there is always room for improvement...
