Quilts of 2021

 Well.....

 I would have to say I was a real slacker in 2021

in

the quilt department!

We spent a whole lot of time camping 

starting

 with a frosty May long weekend in Willowbunch,Sk 

right up to 

A frosty October in Ogema,Sk.

I did bring my sewing machine with me 

but

 it got very little work! 

Add a summer of farming and ranching,

Fall working on Justin's barn 

It seems like I barely got anything done!

We did have a blast with FOUR Unboxing of batiks from Bali

with

our Facebook Live Unboxings! 

Justin has really gotten good at videoing and answering everyone's questions,

We sold a whooping 400 yards of batiks

And all kinds of Precuts in fabulous colors! 

As well as teasing you with some other fabulous lines of fabrics 

like

Whispering Pines

Making all kinds of things with this line! 

The panel with Delectable Mountain borders

Using the Wideback as a whole cloth quilt! 

The Forest Fables line made up in a quilt

called

Inverted Star with a frame! 

We held a few pop up shops on the farm!

There were tasty treats to be had...

Something Sweet by Fadiah joined us and really elevated our day! 

Her cakes and cookies are as good as they look! 

Angela of Gypsy Soul Fabrics added to the quilter's delight! 

There were quilts on display through out the yard

We turned the garage into a quilters haven of color! 

The popup shops were very well received.

I can't thank you enough for the support!

We did timed slots so everyone was spaced out and felt safe!

I sold my last Feathers quilt so I made a new one

This quilt is called Roundabout by Jordan Fabrics

Yup... Batiks! 

I finally got to my Cosmic Shimmer in Tula Pink Fabrics! 

It's on my long arm right now!

This was my entry for Trendtex and Quilt Canada

Haven't heard anything about it's end journey....

Angela of Gypsy Soul Fabrics thought this fabric was not nice....

I think it was called Sedona

I showed her the possibilities

 using

 a pattern called Voyager by Taralee Quiltery of Manitoba

This quilt is also a Taralee Quiltery Pattern

 in

 Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements line.

I entered The CherryWood Challenge for a 4th year in a row.

This was my Diana....

She was chosen to travel

and 

I am hoping to see her in person

 at the Yuma Quilt Show

 in

 a couple of weeks!!

Prince came home this year

And Van Gogh was my first travelling quilt! 

Just to jazz it up,

I made a few rope bowls with some Batik weaved into the rope

This quilt was a QAL by Border Creek Station

It has found a new home with Fadiah's grandaughter! 

Our last Unboxing has some of this yardage 

I thought it would be fabulous in this pattern 

also

It's called Stars in the Valley

I have made it in reds and in greys and blacks. 

This time I made it half the size.

I loved the way the color landed in this one!

I am not sure how yet...

But I am planning a QAL with this quilt live from Yuma.

our 12 Days of Christmas.

I feel like Oprah.....

Ok....

nobody got a car.....

but 

I did share my favorite things with all of you!

I thank you for all the kind remarks about how I inspire you. 

I seriously was just having fun in creating.

It's more like the blind leading the blind

but

as long as no one was hurt in the journey we are all good!

I never think it's NOT going to work... so there is nothing to lose 

but

 some time and fabric! 

They always make more fabric and in a pandemic...

who didn't have some time to kill??

As I reflect on 2021,

It's amazing to think that we have had two years of Covid now. 

I am still trapped in 2019 in my brain.

2022 will be TEN years since I started this blog.

It started as my personal journal of our farming life 

I wanted it to be a place for my kids who used to be little

To have a place to look back and read about our lives when they were big

as well as

a place to document all the quilts I have made. 

I started my Second Story Quilt Shop

as a way 

to supplement my addiction. 

Yup... that's my disease.... Quilting. 

I am not sure I will ever be in recovery mode.

At least my husband always knows were I am....

on the second story of my house 

in

 a sea of fabric and machines.

I called it Second Story because every quilt has a 'second story' 

if 

you take the time to listen to why the quilter made it! 

I thank you for riding along with me all these years. 

I always appreciate your input and inspiration as well. 

May our threads cross paths many times in 2022
