Cherrywood Challenge 2020 - Princess Diana

Crazy.....

Like a fox...

This guy thinks he lives here now!!

But the really crazy part?!?!??

My entry for Cherrywood Challenge 2020
has been chosen to travel!
(at least some one gets to travel)

The Theme was Princess Diana
and
being Canadian....I had to give it a shot!

This is the 4th time I have entered
AND
the fourth time I have been chosen to travel!

Now that is CRAZY!!

2017 - Van Gough

Finally home....

2018 - Prince(the singer)

I think he is in Minnesota at the moment

2019 Bob Ross

He's still out gallivanting somewhere in the world.

The first Challenge I ever entered was the  Hoffman Challenge 2014.

This Butterfly Kisses toured for a year with them.

The second was this purse for Hoffman 2016.

It also toured for a year.

Last Year, I tried the Trendtex Challenge for Canadian Quilter

Which thanks to all of you....

Made Viewer's Choice!!
(insert bow of thanks here)

I remember when I started this one at guild,

they all looked at me with a funny eye.

This fabric screamed 'Halloween' to me but what the heck...

I had nothing but time to lose.

I won a ribbon and 100$!!!!

I am currently finishing up 2021 Trendtex Challenge.

I love the challenges that specify

you can only use the pack of fabric that is provided.

One less decision to make.

Give it a try sometime!

It makes you think outside of your box
and
inside their perimeters!

Ps.
Thank you to everyone guessing the date of my quilt on Facebook!

You're getting close!

Cherrywood Challenge

Since 2020 did not go as ANYONE planned...

The 2020 Cherrywood Challenge

was

postponed to January 2021

This year the color was pink

and

the subject was Lady Diana

I am not a fan of pink

but

being Canadian I thought should give it  a try.

This is what I came up with....

Will this one be chosen to travel in 2021?

I will let you know!

Bob is still out there touring...

Bob Ross 2019

As well as Prince.....

PRINCE 2018

My Van Gogh is home from a World Tour!

It was a show in France at the Bohin Factory!

Van Gogh 2017

If only it could talk...

What will be Cherrywood Color for 2021?

Where did the month go??

I suggest you get a drink and possibly a snack..

It's been a while since I last blogged.

July!!

Really how do the days fly by like this??

It is already harvest.

I came home from the artisan cabin at Kenosee Lake
and
went straight into the tractor!!

Most of the bales are hauled in....

Till I had TWO tires blow out!!

The wheat is swathed and waiting to be picked up!!

I always love going to Moose Mountain Artisan Cabins.

I enjoy my time visiting with the resident artists.

They are Margaret Delainey and Shirley Rumble who are painters
and
Ken Frederickson who is a Bronze artist.

Well worth checking out!!
My cabin rotates out each week so there is always a new surprise!

It always interesting who the people you meet are.

This year, one lady happened to be my husband's teacher in 1971-72!!

Miss Hanna now Mrs. Cousins

Others were from Hungary and Australia!

Thanks to my girlfriends for the picnic lunch on Sunday!

It was a nice visit!

I brought some of my favorites to hang this year.

These two are pattern by Joanne Hoffman of South Dakota

My Zebra was a picture I saw on pinterest using some b/w and w/b fabrics

I love my Tula Pink Butterfly

Every one was in awe of Terry Whitman's quilting!!

Alaska by Laundry Basket quilts...

I finished my Lakeside Sampler by Annemarie Chany

I used Stonehenge gradation fabric for the sand and water!

My Van Gogh Cherrywood Challenge was back from it's vacation around the world!!

If this quilt could talk!!

This is the most peaceful place to sew...

Until around 11:30am when the campers start to surface!

I was loving my new notion by Clover.

It is  a roller for pressing seams.

No iron needed!!

It stormed one afternoon....

Forcing Arnold and Shirley Rumble to take their cards inside.

Nothing slows these two down in a heated game of crib!

I also got some headway on my Jacqueline De Jong quilt

Even the scraps are pretty...

Arnold treated us all with some ice cream from the dickie dee bike

We are very lucky to have the little artisan cabins
and
the Visitor Center at Kenossee Lake.

The gardens are so beautiful!

We just don't make buildings like we used to.

Now to regularly schedualed programming...

Harvest!

Prince Cherrywood Challenge 2018

Last year, I entered the Van Gogh Cherrywood Challenge

 simply....

 because it was blue.

I LOOOOOVE blue if you haven`t realized that yet.

I didn`t have a clue about `Van Gogh` though....

This was the start of my inspiration....

And this is what I came up with....

This is where is was published and is now touring the world!!

Who knew!!

So when 2018`s challenge was announced,

I had to give my hand a try at it again.

After all....Its PURPLE!!

(my other `don`t know what to make with` favorite color)

You may think I don`t have a color I hate....

Oh but I do..

If it was yellow or orange....count me out.

No way could I do anything with those!!

This year`s challenge is an ode to Prince, the singer

You must use the 3 purples and one black in the pack.

It should read 70% purple and be all Cherrywood Fabrics

I wasn`t sure where I was going with it
but
I have to say I am loving where I am at.

I can`t show you yet.....

But I think it`s going to be good!

And it`s not a little PURPLE corvette!!
