Florence and Pisa

 OMG David....

So my girlfreind, Angela of @gyspysoulfabrics
recently
finished a project called OMG David.

It's a two sided quit kit by @legitkits quilt company

When I discovered we would be going to Florence, Italy

I knew I had to go see the real thing just for her!

Our guide was fabulous!

(all English and so knowledgeable)

I could never pull off these orange plaid pants
but
 she was stylin'

She pointed out how Michelanglo had made his feet and hands larger
 to
give him power from far way but still looked to scale

You used to be able to touch the statue till some took a hammer to his toe!

People.....

It is crazy to see his works all through our tours.

His paintings all have so much movement
 with
 everyone looking a different direction!

He made this when he was 23 and painted and sculpted till he was in his 80's

Incredible!

All of his paintings on the ceilings were done standing up!

Then we were off to Pisa to see the tower

I have to say we are terrible tourists because if there is a line up....

We just keep walking!

Look at the detail on these copper doors to the cathedral!

So much detail everywhere!

The tower was incredible to see
but
none of us were willing to pay to do the 300 steps to the top!

The tower has been reinforced to stop anymore leaning!

Back in Florence, we noticed a few shops that were selling pork sandwiches.

Justin has made Porchetta for us a few times now.

We definitely wanted to try it somewhere in our travels

but we had already eaten at a little bakery earlier so today was not the day!

Loved all the bikes locked up and lining the streets.

Old fort wall that is still in tact...

Our guide recommended this Gelato shop...

Mojito Gelato... The best...

Just about missed it!

Lots of buskers...

Beauty everywhere!

There used to be a tree in this spot till a terrorist attack bomb.

This was the memorial put up in it's place.

Another great day!
