Our next tour took us to Girona, Spain
This is where Games of Thrones was filmed
and
the town has been bombarded with tourists ever since!
The bridge over the river was created by the same guy who did the Eiffel Tower
They said it was his trial before the big project! Lol
When we got to this point in the walking tour,
one of the ladies asked if we had to go up the 90 stairs to the church...
The guide said no..... Good thing or she was looking for a taxi!!
Even the door knockers were ornate!
Iberian Ham was every where...
When the Jewish people were being forced to live in a catholic world,
they would prove their compliance by eating meat.
They would hang a leg of pork, dry curing it, out their door.
They would take a few thin slices off the leg and bring in showing,
they were following the rules.
It has since become a staple every where.
The expensive legs are pigs that have been fed a diet of acorns.
Then we headed over to Figueres to Salvador Dali's Museum
I wish I had done more research on him
as
the few things our guide pointed out about his art was amazing.
I didn't know....
One of the most famous figures in art history, Salvador DalĂ (1904-1989) is remembered as much for his extravagant persona and iconic mustache as he is for his creative output—which spanned painting, sculpture, and product and set design, as well as film.
He was very modern for his time.
And dabbled in all mediums as most of us creative people tend to do!
He was even into pix elated pictures that had a surprise hiding inside!
When looking at this pic with the naked eye,
it was a naked woman in the bathroom.
But when you photographed it, it looked like Lincoln!
This car actually had a living garden inside!
When I walked through his works,
it really made me think about what was going on in his mind.
Quite the evolution of art through time.
Can you imagine the lifetimes that have walked these steps....
or tucked into these tunnels?
These streets look like sidewalks but it's actually the road
You had to duck into a doorway to keep from being run over!
